“Great food, quirky atmosphere!”
Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

Visited this restaurant before and always guaranteed good food and a great atmosphere. Wide choice on the menu and there is an English translated version so you know what you're getting. Very welcoming to families and lots of quirky things on display to fascinate young and old alike. Had the Beef Shashlik which was excellent and will definitely go there again. Best to book a table in advance but we arrived early at first sitting.

“Good value and service”

Good choice on menu. Good value and service. Nice family atmosphere with many languages spoken! Really enjoyed my Salzburg schnitzel. I couldn't finish it.

“Great food, service poor”
Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

We walked into Kupferkessel in the morning to check out the location and cleanliness upon approval we reserved a table. That night we showed up at our reservation slot time and were told there was no such reservation but we could be seated in an area if we ate our meal in two hours! We reluctantly agreed due to it being a holiday night knowing all other places would be packed out.

Our waiter was friendly and explained the menu well to us, we were then left for 35 mins and couldn't catch the waiters attention to place an order. In the end we had to almost stand infront of him to get his attention, with no apology that he'd simply forgotten us we placed an order anyway for their fillet steaks (most expensive item on the menu). Not too impressed with the service at this point given the pricing we waited patiently.

The food arrived within 10 minutes and was well presented, unfortunately the steaks were not cooked as we'd requested, paying £25 for each steak it has to be right! 5 more minutes to wave at the waiter again, he swiftly returned the meals to the kitchen.

Second time lucky the food was perfect and had been replated, it could of been hotter due to their mistake but we were so hungry at this point we settled for it.

Overall the steaks tasted great but the price of the food does not reflect the service. As this is such a weirdly shaped floor plan you can easily be forgotten around a corner or behind some decor.

Make sure you are in no rush.

“Good staff, great food”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Had a great meal here (and a few drinks). The staff are very friendly and helpful and there's a good menu, with large portions at reasonable prices. There's some great original decor in the restaurant, so it's worth having a good look around. Located just out of the town centre, but only a short walk. The Wiener Schnitzel is huge!

“Great food with a traditional feel”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

A great place for food with a lively atmosphere and traditional Austrian feel. The jäger schnitzel was particularly good as was the pizza and the portion size is huge so make sure you are hungry. There is so much going on with the decoration of what was originally a petrol station it is very interesting just to look around. Especially good was the separation of non-smoking from smoking. The staff were very friendly too.
