“nice hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

After reading some other reviews about the staff at this hotel being rude, meals being poor standard and towels not being changed I have to say that this did nt happen during the week we stayed at the Daxer. We all enjoyed our stay at this hotel we picked it because it was close to the gondola and reasonably priced.

It was a very nice hotel!! Breakfast and diner were good. The owner and his personnel are very polite. The rooms are big enough and the bathroom was clean and good. The distance to the many ski lopes is about 200 metres, so it isn't that far. I will come back in march!!

I've got a great vacation!!

Room Tip: Sunny side!!

The first time I went to Daxer was 10 years ago. Last week was our 10th anniversary. Everytime we come at Daxer, it feels like home, I love it!
Michael and Conny, the hotel owners, are so friendly! And so is the staff. The service is fabulous.
The rooms are very good, it doesn't mather on which side you stay, there is always a nice view.. They clean the rooms every day, you get new towels every day.
Breakfast is in a buffet form, so you can choose whatever you want.
At dinner, the starters are also in buffet form, for the main course you can choose out of 4 courses and there is always a desert. Sounds good to me!

The hotel has a swimmingpool, sauna area, pooltable, skihut, enough to enjoy yourself.
It is also a plus that the hotel is near the skislopes, it's a 2 minute walk, so that's perfect.

I've already booked a long weekend in March with my friends, so I will go there again this year!

I would really recommend it to everyone to stay at Daxer, you will enjoy it!

We booked this hotel through Crystal ski because it claimed to serve organic food. We found on the first night this was not the case, and since our return have found that their website has been altered to reflect this, although Crystal's hasn't, yet. The rep finally told us the meat and bread were organic, but the manager never confirmed this, neither did he provide the organic jam and apple juice which he told the rep he was going to.
We had a leak in the bathroom, (which was fixed 3 days later), but the staff should have spotted this before we checked in. Also you can't get a cup of tea or coffee after 21:59 and you have to have a shower before 17:00 or all the hot water has gone.
On the plus side the hotel is clean and warm and most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The pool and the spa area are reasonable for a hotel of this size.

The Daxer was booked as part of a package through my works sports association so I did not especially pick it. All the travel arrangements were ultimately handlled by Crystal Ski. As there were a number of us travelling on the same deal from different departure points we arrived separately at various times in the day. On our arrival we were sorted out with room keys and paperwork effficiently and by a friendly receptionist. Our room on the first floor was one of the smaller ones but adequate for purpose with a nice shower room and balcony towards the mountain. Beds are comfy and big though the big but flat pillows not to our preference though after asking at reception reinforcements were speedily delivered to the room. Downstairs off reception is the bar area and spacious dining areas - a series of interlinked spaces as we were parrt of a fairly large group tables had been grouped together for us at one end and hopefully far enough away from other diners for them to enjoy thir meals without disruption. The lounge is compact at best though with a lovely woodburner sadly no view but I doubt many stay at the hotel to remain in. All the same I cant help but think part of the dining space could have been given over for more seating. The hotel has a small indoor pool though not big enough for a keen swimmer to make use of. The steam and sauna areas were spacious and popular ( Austrian style naked mixed however was not!) The unsegregated dressing area not too practical either. That aside the hotel is spotless and well maintained with a quirky charm that denotes a family business rather than a sterile chain. The staff are friendly and very helpful though never intrusive. Brreakfast was a buffet of sliced meats and cheeses breads and rolls cereals fruit yoghurts as well as sausage bacon scrambled eggs and beans. No rush to get the best either as the staff would happily bring out more of anything running low - even bringing inndividually cooked portions of scrambled eggs. We ate so well we rarely wanted anything at lunchtimes despite all the exercise from skiing. At breakfast there are 2 top quality bean to cup coffee machines for the full range of coffees as well as chocolate and a good range of teas. Dinnersees the breakfast buffet replaced with a salad buffet with corn beetroot carrots alongside mixed leaves and platters of cold meats stuffed vine leaves sun dried tomato. Feta and mozzarella for example.
There were always 2 soups - one a light consomme with something different to add each day sometimes noodles. Or croutons or tiny profiterole shells. The alternative a hearty rich soup such as grandmas cream of vegetable, garlic (fantastic!!!!!). At breakfast you are asked to choose your main course though we never found it a problem to change there are 4 choices every day including a child oriented option. This too is good home cooked food nicely presented. To be fair it errs on the side of decorative rather than hearty but well cooked and nicely presented not plonked on a plate. Michelin starred it isnt but good tasty and enjoyable. A litre of tap water at €2.50 is a niggle perhaps but wines at €16 upwards were nice and good value. For restaurant prices. Not bad around 100% mark up on the local supermarket compared to the typical 300% you often find in the uk. I was pleasantly surprised The Daxer along with Zell am See generally was much less expensive than I expected. All things considered, the Daxer is efficient clean and modern where it matters but more importantly friendly personable and comfortable. It is excellent value for money and a very pleasant plaxe to stay whatever your reason for being there. As a base for skiing it is perfect being a short totter in ski boots to three main lifts. There is a decent ski and boot room with heated racks too. Would I go again? For sure. Reccomend it? You bet - unless you are one of those people who cannot enjoy without having plenty to complain about. A reviewer staying here at christmas found nothing to their liking.. personally I cant reconcile their version to mine as the culture of a business does not change in 7 days... for my money 50+ reviewers got it right and one should do us a favour and stay at home.

I read a report recently from a person having stayed At GD complaining about everything, this person could not have stayed in this hotel or they banged there head skiing. This hotel is excellent in all areas. Michael and Connie the ownwers, and all there Staff give excellent service. there is plenty of choice for Breakfast and dinner with TWO soups allways availble. The Rooms are spotless and warm, pool area is great for the kids, the hotel is located close to the lift system, we love the Apres ski hut Bar, ''The Love shack''...Can you believe this report, My family and friends have stayed here for a week during the Ski Season for 9 Years on the trot, if its not broke dont try to fix it. Love this place.

This was a fantastic hotel, the location is second to none for the ski slopes. We stayed 5th Jan to 12th Jan and have already booked for 2 weeks next year! Nor sure what the other reviewer was talking about when he expressed dismay at the shed out the back.. it was a lovely apres ski hutte experience, with really helpful bar staff. We asked for a range of unusual shots and he made everyone of them for us and a few more. Some of our colleagues smoked and they could relax in the hutte for the non/smokers the bar inside was warm and cosy. Michael and Connie the owners were always on hand to offer a friendly tip or advice, or weather updates. The hotel organised our skis and lessons and the price was great as we received a further 15% discount, we did not have to queue in one of the places in town for an hour like some people we heard, and the boots and skis were ver new looking. They also organised taxis for us at a great price frankly they couldnt do more to make our trip special. Now to the food ..... what a choice.... beautifully prepared Austrian and European dishes and for our friend vegetarian and gluten free options... she was thrilled! We had dinner in the hotel every night despite the fact that we had planned to eat in town a few nights for a change but the atmosphere and food were so good we didnt bother. I must commend the staff on their friendliness and helpfulness and indeed their ability to speak several languages they were all great. Our room had high wooden ceilings and was spacious and airy. It had 2 balconies and a nice seating area, it had that lovely fresh pine wood smell and was maintained impecably, sorry i cannot remember the room number, but our friends were in very similar rooms so tehy all appear to be of the same standard.. In summary, Go here its superb!
