Some good some not so good things with this hotel. Very difficult to get into bath unless you are very fit & athletic. Food good , but area to get breakfast & dinner salads very small & cramped only one person at a time could fit in corner which made it very slow. Not impressed having to carry hot buffet food up a spiral staircase to table. Bedroom very spacious &^ well equipped although some of my friends were not as lucky It seemed you either had a spacious room or a good view but not both. wish I had taken my kettle for an early morning drink. Fridge in room very useful. Church bells wake you at 6am every morning & then every 15 minutes from than on.In june when I went most of the other hotels closed as it is off season.

Room Tip: Room with balconies smaller. Larger rooms at back nearer noisy church bells.

Just back today from a week at the sportberger. The hotel is family run and the staff are all very helpful. It was the first time I had travelled alone and had asked if the single room had a balcony and as they didn't I was offered a small double room with a balcony at no extra cost, which I thought was very nice of them. Towels were changed every day and the shower was really great even although it was just a single unit. There was also a fridge in the room which was handy for keeping the wine chilled. The breakfast had all that you needed to start off the day and you were offered a choice of main and sweet for your meal at night, the salad and soup were optional. A very picturesque village and with the weather being good, I had a most enjoyable holiday. Met in with some nice people so it all added to the hol.

Reading some reviews I don't know what some people are used to. I was one of 6 people staying here on a ski trip in March 2014. We've skied throughout Europe and this is the only hotel of a poor standard at the highest price by £300-£400.

The rooms/bathrooms are pokey and tired, most have no view, the general facilities are quite poor, threadbare patches on the carpets and the lounge is gaudy and small. We, frankly, couldn't believe the poor quality when considered against the highest price paid ever. All our party wanted a change of room, some changed others didn't bother as there was nothing better on offer. We also found that most guests booked in that day did the same. There then ensued a farcical situation of people being juggled about by the owners and staff. There is also a seedy table dancing club in the cellar and some, particularly families, may not want to be near this.

There were some good points, e.g. the food was of the quality we've come to expect and there is a nice fitness centre, although housekeeping was questionable. The owners and staff are also personable in difficult circumstances, i.e.trying to justify the high price tag and placate guests until they can ship them out. The waiters looking after us were very good, particularly Luigi and Mate. Typically for Austria, we were allocated a dining table for the week. However, on our last evening, to add insult to injury and to the embarrassment of our 2 waiters, we entered the dining room to find that paying customers from the street had been allocated our table. Clearly done knowing we would be checking out the next day; this simply isn't good enough.
.
The real villains here are Crystal who market this budget hotel as 4*. Had we paid about £700 we would have had no cause for complaint. We always seek comfort and quality and have always managed to achieve it. Here, we paid vastly more than at any other time and our expectations were that this hotel would be at least as good as elsewhere and probably far better. It was, in fact, the worst by a huge margin.

Every other 4* hotel on the main thoroughfare appeared far superior to the Berger and all have an an equally good location.

Don't stay here, or rely on integrity from Crystal. You can do better.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front appear to have balconies, however, there is an entrance to a seedy table dancing...

Extremely happy with our stay at Berger's family hotel. Everyone was very friendly especially our waiter, he looked after us for the whole week which made it more personal. And the owner was very nice as she spoke to us and wanted to be sure everything was OK with our stay. The location of the hotel is also very good, it's very close to the lifts and the restaurants/bars. There's a great spa in the hotel with a pool, sauna and steam room which was very needed and relaxing after a full day of skiing. The room was very clean and super cosy. And most importantly the food was incredible! The breakfast buffet was amazing, and the dinner each night was delicious. I would definitely recommend it as I will certainly go back to Saalbach and stay at the Berger's hotel again!

What a Great week at the Berger's Sporthotel!! We had a Great week and just had to write about this GEM of a hotel that our group of skiers stayed at in Saalbach-Hinterglemm...The Berger Sporthotel in Saalbach was very quaint and very centrally located in the middle of the pedestrian area of town. A very close walk to ski lifts and all amenities. The family run hotel was extremely accommodating to our group. All rooms were very spacious and clean...all rooms came with full baths and sun filled balconies which was fantastic!!!! We chose 'half board' accommodations and I have to say that the food was Great!!!! The best food that we've had in a 4* hotel in years of skiing Europe. Karyn and her staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Everyone in our group were very pleased and we all agree that we will be returning to Saalbach and definitely staying at the Berger family hotel again!!!!

Had a great week at Berger's! Centrally located, easy walk to 3 lifts for skiing. So many runs to choose from and all levels, as well as breathtaking views! Short 200M walk to Bauer's Schi Alm for the best Apres Ski in Saalbach! Hotel rooms were spacious and very clean. We took half board, good buffet breakfast with European and North American choices, as well as an omelette station. (The day we checked out, at 4:00 a.m., the staff had prepared breakfast to go for each of us!!!) Dinner was chosen the night before, for the next day, and always included a salad bar and dessert. Dinner served between 19:00 and 21:00, after which, the restaurant turned into a bar. Gregory, our server, gets special mention for his friendly disposition and attentive service, thank you Gregory, we miss you, xoxo! Thursday nights feature an Elvis/Tom Jones impersonator, which was hokey, but a lot of fun! Separate smoking lounge for smokers, and a friendly, sweet, night doorman to let you in after hours. The owner was attentive and friendly, and was always making sure everyone was happy, which we were. We never took advantage of the pool or sauna, but we heard that both were fabulous, as well as the massages. We are a group that travel to different locations to ski every winter, but we loved Saalbach and Berger's Sporthotel so much, decided for the first time, we would return next year! It doesn't get any better!

Room Tip: Some rooms are larger than others, and balconies are wrap around so you can get a view despite the r...

We stayed here towards the end of the ski season and we're lucky enough to have a great snow dump the evening and following day which meant the ski was spectacular! The hotel is great, very clean and a real retro theme, but what made our stay was our hosts! The family welcomed us with open arms and bent over backwards to make our stay as great as possible. Food was great, very nice meals with a great wine list with several Austrian wines on the menu. The swimming/spa facility was much used after each day skiing and the massage's were extremely relaxing. Overall nice clean hotel with great facilities and exceptional hosts.

Room Tip: Austrian twins are a double bed with two mattresses, if you want separate beds they do have them but...
