Just returned from ski trip along with 13 other friends. This was our 2nd trip to the Penhab and we are already planning the next one. Matt and Annie are so friendly and make you feel so welcome. Matt puts alot of thought into food dishes he creates....they are just scrummy. The chalet position is great for everyone..close to lifts / ski school / nursery slopes / night skiing / snow park /apre ski bar. Thank you for a wonderful week.

What can i say, both of them are really helpful, friendly and warm. The room was excellent with clean towel, bed sheet and a piece of chocolate. Really feels like home since the first time we arrive. Breakfast was good and i eat two boiled eggs, sorry for that because its delicious. There is one girl who help Matt and Annie but i don't know her name. She also really nice. We were a bit unlucky because we cannot have try Matt or Annie's cooked meal because at that weekend they didn't prepared any dinner. But they do give us suggestion where to eat. The location is perfect, only 5 minutes walking from bus stop Hinterglemm Zwolferkogelbahn by bus number 680. I wish i can go back someday and stay with Pension Penhab again.

Room Tip: We booked two single room, one is number 9 in third floor and one is number 2 in the first floor. I...

Having lived in Saalbach/ hinterglemm for a season in 2004/5, i was keen to take my friends and family there, I have now been to Pension Penhab 5 times (3 in winter twice for Baurenmarktfest in summer) and it just get betters every time. In Jan 2012, I took a group of 20 friends and family to the pension rangeing in ages from 25 to 60 and I have to say we could not have had a better time. We were in waist deep powder by day with sunshine and it snowed most evenings (I have waited 10 seasons for such perfect weather!) the apres ski at the umbrella bar is close enough to walk home from (2minutes) but far enough away that you cant here it in the chalet.

The rooms are mostly traditional austrian twins which are basic and functional (however a few had been refurbished downstairs into a more modern style) and the showers are powerful and always piping hot.

The food cooked by Mat and Annie is amazing and is always enough to fill you up after a long day on the slopes. I can highly recommend the ribs mat makes and his baileys bread and butter pudding is to die for.

What makes this pension unique is the wonderful atmosphere that mat and annie create with their warm and welcoming style, you really feel at home here, they are always on hand to give you advise from bars/ shopping to where to find the best tree runs and powder.

In Hinterglemm if you arrive on a saturday you can ski from i think 3pm that afternoon on your 6 day lift pass which is really worth it to get those legs running before the 1st whole day.

I personally cannot wait to go back and am gutted that i cannot make the group trip in jan or the summer trip in august this year but will be there in 2014!

Room Tip: I like room 1 or the rooms at the back on the 2nd floor.

Matt and Annie are the warmest, most welcoming couple on earth! Their attitude, friendlyness and knowledge are second to none. We came into their house as a group of students with BUSC, no doubt a concerning reputation however we were treated amazingly. Matt and Annie even joined in with alot of our evening partying!
I simply couldnt reccomend a better place to stay in all of the alps. Even though at the time the snow was pretty useless it was, without a shade of doubt, thanks to matt and annie, the best skiing holiday I have ever been on

CHEERS GUYS!

Have just returned from a great closing week in Saalbach staying with Matt and Annie and true to form (from previous reviews) their personalities shone through. We've laughed so hard I can't tell whether I ache from that or from the epic late season powder we had. My buddy and I had the cosy new single rooms on the top floor with great views up the hill. We had the pleasure of riding with them on their day off and they kindly showed us around their favourite spots and the best restaurants to eat in on the mountains. Talking of food, I can only reiterate previous mentions about the great meals we had and the idyllic setting of Pension Penhab in the warm mid-April sun.

We'll be booking a week in January and attempting to take over the whole venue this time as I really can't recommend both Penhab and Saalbach enough.

Thanks for a really great time guys.

Booked a week here on the strength of the trip advisor reviews. Have to say it lives up to the other reviews as we had a great week at Penhab, hosts matt and Annie were very friendly and welcoming. Matt's cooking was a delight and the setting couldn't be better. Having been to hinterglemm a couple of times before we found the central location of the chalet ideal as it's only a couple of minutes walk to the nursery slopes and the ski lifts. Skiing was excellent if a little heavy going in the spring snow, but it was nearly the last week of the season. We travelled with kids (6&10) and loved the relaxed atmosphere and intimacy of the chalet so much so we have already provisionally booked a family room for next season - this little gem is too good to miss!) Can't wait to return...

Had a super week with Matt and Annie (so funny that people mention them rather than the Pension itself in the reviews) - they do really make you feel like you are guests in their home. Our room was spacious warm and the shower hot! The honesty bar genius. Sadly we didnt have the best snow conditions which made negotiating the runs (a lot of them were closed) and resort a bit of a challenge but we knew were were risking this skiing so late in the season. I would highly reccommend this chalet to anyone thinking of making a booking. The two most genuine people you will ever meet - so perfectly suited to taking care of you in what is, for most, their most favourite week of the year.
