We travelled as a group of 6 ages 30 to 40 for our first time to Austria. We were impressed. Hotel was very traditional but gave it a lovely charm, rooms were clean, shower and bath and beds very comfortable, we were on the second floor and never heard the church bells? We had the same table in the restaurant each night for breakfast and evening meal which was great as it made it easy for everyone to meet up. Breakfast had a wide selection of meats/cheeses, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, breads, toast and egg and bacon every morning so had plenty of energy for the day ahead. Evening meal was usually 5 courses served to the table or some nights themed night style buffet but excellent quality, always a choice of menu and always a vegetarian option, with friendly service was always an enjoyable start to the evening. Apres Ski was lively Bruck and Stein being a traditional drinking stop and good fun for dancing and taking in the atmosphere, lots of bars and variety of places to go. Prices of drinks were around 3.50euros for a pint of weiss beer which made the resort much more favourable and considerably cheaper than france last year.
Hotel was in a great location, easy for walking anywhere in town, supermarket just over the road and bus stop right outside hotel, which stopped about every 15mins to take you to the gondolas, instead of getting the Penken (queues were unbelievable) we got the Horbergbahn which was a couple of minutes away on the free bus and really quiet and easy to get straight to top of mountain and back down.
We had day trips to Kaltenbach which we would recommend it was only 15minutes away and beautiful supposedly a favourite of the locals (we book this through our rep and had a guided tour and bus about 15euro but was worth it) also you can use your lift pass to get free bus to the glacier about 30mins away at the train station which is a short walk from the hotel.
You have to pay for a wifi pass that you can only use on one device but if you go downstairs in the hotel the casino has free wifi, so would recommend having a drink and using wifi in there.
The only downside most places smoke inside in Austria (unless it is an eating area) which is strange as we are not use to this in England, but overall I would highly recommend this resort and hotel and I think we will all return to Austria again next year.
We didn't use the sauna area as there is a no swimwear rule and we were travelling in a mixed group, but this is a extra small charge if you want to use this.

We stayed here, in the annexe, last week, March 2013. The Annexe is a good 2 star. Our room was clean and comfortable but the towels were hard and old! The main hotel seemed better, but not 4 star. The food was generally good, and the staff were excellent. The spa was a disappointment as it is an all naked area which does not fit with everyone's philosophy! Although we looked forward to using the spa after a hard weeks skiing, this put us off and we did not end up using it. The staff, however, made up for the disappointments as they were very attentive and friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main hotel

We stayed at Kramerwilt hotel for 7 days on the last week of march 2013. Overall I feel the hotel was ok, the staff was friendly and did his very best to facilitate all our requests. On the downside the hotel has several annoying policies I never encountered before on a 4 stars hotel:

1- We were charged 5.5 Euros per visit to the spa ( the spa was excellent though)
2- Bath robes required extra fee.
3-there was no cream or conditioner, only crappy shampoo ( quantity was not enough)
4- In one of our rooms the shower poll felt cheap and fell all the time.
5-All the hotel's towels are old and need replacement.

We had a nice experience at the hotel, this is the cheapest 4star hotel in Mayrhofen and for a good reason. Even with the mentioned above disadvantages, I do feel comfortable recommending the hotel.

You really get to know about a place and its staff when things don't go to plan. Not only did the Kroll family and the staff do all they could to help us with the various medical issues we had in our group but they took personal concern and interest in our problems. We can't thank them enough for all they did for us. So that's the calibre of the staff and management -superb. Onto the hotel itself: beautiful building, superbly decorated, rooms comfortable and adequately equipped, lovely spa area although beware it is Austrian style - no swimming costumes. What really makes it special though are the extras like the seasonal decorations: daffodils, hyacinths and the Easter bunnies were just so cute. Food was excellent, great selection at breakfast buffet and wonderful 4 course dinners. Location is in the center of the town - a bit of a walk to the ski lifts but free bus stops right outside. Heated boot racks in the ski room. I was very close to the church and yes you can hear the bells (every quarter hour and they go nuts at 7am and 7pm) but with ear plugs I had no problem.

My step son was taken seriously ill on 2nd day of our holiday. Mr & Mrs Kroll were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, they even insisted on phoning the hospital for us every day before visiting to save our phone bills. They provided food late at night for my husband. Food was amazing. All staff incredibly helpful. Hotel was beautiful, spotlessly clean etc etc. We would definatley go back, hopefully with all the trauma and have a very relaxing holiday with them. Hotel Kramerwirt is definatley the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: We had no problem with the church bells. Our friend had a room at the front of the hotel and had no...

This was our first visit to the hotel and even Austria itself so we didn't really know what to expect, we got off the coach and were quickly greeted by the reception staff who were awesome and very efficient in getting us into our room. They were very well mannered and went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed.

Once that was all sorted and we were shown to our rooms. On the way we couldn't help notice the traditional decor of the hotel, the halls have large bookcases, family trees that span generations, religious murals and pictures from ages ago of the Kroll family. This we thought was really cool because it wasn't your typical boring white walled hotel, this hotel has lots of character and that's what we wanted.

Once in the room the traditional decor remains but simplified, the furniture is all solid wood and the bed was a huge wooden frame with side tables, over by the large window & Balcony area there was an armchair with a small table and a single wooden seat. The room also had a TV & safe with extra bedding and pillows below the stand. The room was en suite with a WC/shower/sink. Very basic and that's all we wanted.

When it was time for dinner in the evening (18:30 onwards) we were allocated the same table for the duration of the holiday and this was great so no fighting for position.
The food in this place really was a massive highlight for us. Every morning you are given a choice of three main meals (2 meat + 1 veggie) which includes two set starters and dessert. We really did struggle to choose every time we were asked to pick the meal for the following evening, everything sounded amazing. Sometimes there would be a buffet dessert or main and these were huge, I mean two tables full of buffet food, great for food lovers who want to try everything and everything! I would certainly recommend that you go half board as the cooked &/or continental breakfast is just as good.
The kroll family have their own butchers and all the meat for breakfast/dinner is from there. the sausages and bacon were a winnner for me. There's nothing better than stuffing yourself on the huge breakfast before 8 hours of boarding, again the food is amazingly good.

I have to mention the staff at the hotel also, not only did they go out of their way to help you no matter how silly the request but they had a smile on their faces at the same time. The meal/reception service are top and they're always there to help. We were served at meal times by Tina, who was absolutely lovely, she was very chatty and made jokes about how she preferred skiing to snowboarding and how we'd picked the wrong sport and she was loads of fun. She particularly stood out for us as she was so helpful and happy.

The hotel itself was kept warm at all times, the room temperature was also kept at a nice temp when we arrived and this could be changed to suit your preference. There was a huge Ski/Board room which had heated boot/board racks. Having being used to towelling down my board after a session this was a welcomed change, you just stuck your kit on the rails and the next day it was ready for another day of snow. There was an onsite casino next door which I (luckily) only ventured into once for a look but again if that's what you're after it's there. Our rooms were cleaned daily and really were looked after.

I have read some reviews which mention the bells of the church over the street from the Kramerwirt and yes the bells do chime every hour and coming from someone with a room looking onto the church, I really didn't have a problem. I don't know if it;s because myself and my Fiancée are heavy sleepers or not but they didn't wake us once. It was nice to hear them on a morning because you were always reminded of the time for breakfast ect.

The location of the hotel is brilliant, you're only a 10 minute walk from the Penken Gondola and a few more minutes walk away from the Ahorn, this is a perfect way to get the legs warmed up before 8 hours of boarding. If you don't fancy the walk up the main street then the hotel has a bus stop right outside for the free bus service which arrives every 10 minutes and takes you up to both lifts.
The hotel is also only a 5 minute walk away from the Mayrhofen train station, this is where you catch the free 'Green line' bus to the Hintertux Glacier. This is a must as it has some awesome red runs and if you go on the first day you'll be the only people on there for hours. The first bus leaves at 07:30 and run every 30 minutes till late in the evening.

The hotel sits right next to the main street in Mayrhofen, once you cross through the church car park you're right outside Inter Sport (which has free WiFi outside) and the centre of the bars, shops and supermarkets. There is a nice sized supermarket just up the road from the hotel too which sells everything you could possibly need and the hotel staff can provide you with a rental mini fridge for beer if you need one.

To sum it up this hotel was everything we wanted and more. Everything was so clean which was something we notice straight away, the staff really do go out of their way to make sure the place is looked after and this is a family business it has all the personal touches. This really shows compared to the more chain like places. The food was excellent and sometimes the only bad thing was worrying that you picked the wrong choice when you saw other folks food. We will be coming back to this hotel when we visit Hoff again.

There is a reason that the Kramerwirt (as I type this) is the #1 rated hotel in Mayrhofen, I really wouldn't look anywhere else. This place has it all.

This was our fourth visit to the Kramerwirt and it never fails to impress. We are so well looked after when we stay here that it feels like coming home.
From the heartfelt welcome by Mr and Mrs Kroll to the friendly banter with Christian, everything is done to an exceptional standard.
Further to this our 21 month old daughter was catered for and nothing was too much bother. (Even if she preferred to dance around as opposed to sitting in her seat)
To all of the staff at the Kramerwirt, thank you so much; we will be back!
