Unusually warm November, sunny days, lots and lots of hiking trails to choose from.

“Even at 84 yo I am still able to walk so many of the well maintained paths in this location.”

Superb weather, but so late in the year some cafes and restaurants were closed.

“Breathtaking views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2011

This was our first trip to Mayrhofen and we were not disappointed. The weather at the beginning of our week's holiday was very "british" which was spent on excursions to The Hintertux Glacier and Salzburg. On our 3rd day the weather improved and we ventured onto the Penken using the gondolas. As the clouds cleared the scenery was just incredible and the air was so clear. The next day we went up the "Ahorn". The gondola was just about the largest we had ever seen, more like a small bus. The scenery was just as spectacular. We enjoyed a fabulous slice of apple streudel in the panoramic cafe (the modern one next to the gondola station) - the view was amazing, we sat right at the end. It was like being on top of the world. Afterwards we visited the Bird of Prey falconry display - We have never seen such a backdrop, and the birds were amazing - the mountains were spectacular. We cannot wait to return and have lots of photos!!
