The chalet is small, cosy and very appealling to the eye as you first walk in, and you might think that it is a sophistcated and not a very friendly 'hotel'. But this is not in any way the case, as soon as we walked in, the staff were there to take our bags and show us to our rooms, and at the same times getting to know us and learning everyones names. The chef (Chris) was very accomodating, attempting to meet everyones dietry requirements, including quite a major set back, however one of the nights the Beef Goulash was a bit tough, but after dinner he came out and personally appolagise about the matter. I like thathe actually realized and acknoweledged that.
Our ski guide (Emily) was very knowledgable about the whole area and how to get yourslef around it, such as the pistes and how high they were, whether they were drag lifts or chairs, and how long it would take to get down the bottom, one day we went to a glacier with Emily as our guide again, and it was one of the best ski trips I've ever been on. In total we went out to the slopes with Emily a total of 4 days. If you asked her a question she would answer it in very accurate detail, but if she did not know the answer, she would make it a priority to find it out.
The hosts and hostesses (George, Hannah and Stuart) were good fun at the same time as being efficient and helping all round, such as setting tables out and handling the bar and entertaing the children, even when they were on breaks, such as playing jenga etc.
The supervisor (Helen) was extremely helpful and happy all the time, we came through the door, and she introduced everyone, including herself and then reassured that if there was anything we needed then we could ask any of them.
We did'nt see much of the night supervisor (Chris) but we spoke one night and he seemed very helpful and nice.
The rooms were very warm and cosy, comfortable beds, even the put-up bed that I was on was very comfortable, the pillows were big and fluffy. just the way that I like them and the view that we had from our balcony was awe-inspiring. We were a bit sceptical about renting a twin room, but all was well when we first walked in and it was a small hallway with a toilet and seperate sink and shower in another, and also in the hall way were two doors that said our room numbers on them, both equipped with a very large window, a wardrobe, enough storage space for more people than could havee fitted in the room, and a television and a door to the balcony which had a small table and chairs, a nice touch. We will definetly go bcak, maybe even in february.
Instead of the situation being 'staff and guests' it was more like we was all on holiday together, but they just brang us food and drink, and whatever else it was that we wanted. one of the best holidays I've been on ever. We realy had an amazing time and would definetly reccomend this place for anyone who is looking to have a nice time in the best location. the chalet is approx 3 minute walk in ski boots to the Ahorn lift, and to the penken around a 10-15 minute walk into town.
thanks everyone at the Stoanerhof Chalet. :)
