We went to this chalet with small children aged 4 and 8. The staff were very professional, accommodating, and did everything they could to assist with making our stay enjoyable. The children were fed the same food as adults, but at an earlier time. I really liked the fact the children were eating healthy wholesome food, not rubbish chips or nuggets. The food exceeded my expectation - I cant believe the chef was able to produce such dishes for a room full of people to this quality every night.... but he did. The food is English, which came as a relief. The 4:30 cakes were also delicious.

Evenings meals were served at 7:30pm, so by this time, kids were fast asleep in bed, while we were able to enjoy the company of other guests. The baby monitor worked really well.

The room: Room 3. Beds really comfortable, duvets lovely and snug. Room not too hot, so had nice sleep. Really spacious so plenty of room for luggage. One thing missing from room .... no hooks to hang wet ski gear - this ended up going at the end of our bed, as I didn't want to hang it in wardrobe next to dry clothes. Also, only one small mirror in bathroom. Another thing which I couldn't get use to, was the door leading to the en-suite.... this was glass, and provided no privacy what so ever. This made toilet visits a bit awkward!!! This is no communal toilet downstairs either. The staff could easily rectify this with replacing the door, or even putting film over it. The lock was also missing.

The skiing: Ski area is really good, and trip to Glacier on sunny day was amazing. The childrens ski school was very professional, and I had no concerns leaving my children in their care. They also offer a lunch hour at 10 euro, we took advantage of this, so our skiing time was 9:30-2:30. The kids pick up point varied depending on what mountain the lesson was taking place on. For the 4 year olds lesson, the nursery slopes were in a different area, so logistics were a bit difficult at times and often involved getting buses.

I would highly recommend Crazy Daisy bar in Zell am See for Wednesday night off. Food amazing, and nice little disco upstairs kids can have a little dance in. Cocktail called "yellow snow" was nice!!!! Also the Tauran Spa is a must- this is really expensive (£56 for family of 4, for 3 hours) but well worth it. This is a 5* Spa - the outside pools are amazing, and I would recommend going just before it gets dark. The views are incredible, and the pool is 34c. Also, they offer a free children's creche in the 'children's spa" area. Children can attend in swim suits, giving you the time for sauna, or enjoy a cocktail / beer in the outside swimming pool.

Overall, we all had a fantastic holiday, and are already considering booking again next year.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a nice balcony and is very spacious. Its located on 2nd floor, so away from dining area. Negative: bathroom has glass door!!

My girlfriend and I travelled here from the 18th-25th January 2014.
We had an amazing time which in part is down to the chalet hosts (particularly Olivia & Olly) and top quality food prepared daily by George the chef.
A warm and friendly welcome awaits with freshly cooked chocolate cookies, tea and coffee on arrival.
Meals are cooked fresh on 5 of the 6 evenings and are restaurant standard, served individually (not buffet style).
Free flowing red and white wine with the meal was also a bonus.
If you have any dietary requirements just let George know and he will happily accommodate with a good imagination.

For the one night the chalet meal wasn't available we went to Hilberger's Beisl and had some traditional Austrian food.
I can't recommend this place highly enough, service, food & ambiance were excellent (rack of lamb was superb as was the trout).

The rooms are spacious, with plenty of room to dry wet gear and a balcony. Lots of drawer space and an adjustable thermostat in the room.
Our room only had a shower, a bath would have been good but not an issue.
The Sauna was out of order all week, but this didn't hinder out experience and we got compensated for this.

As with all chalet holidays a lot depends on the people you meet and we made friends with most of the 28 who were there.
Massive shouts out to fellow guests Emma, Franky, Gerry and Mark (can't forget Katie, my lovely other half) Great people who made the holiday what it was.

The snowboarding was class on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier with fresh powder and well groomed pistes.
The Maiskogel was good for day 1 getting your snow legs back, but not extensive piste so travel to Kitzsteinhorn or Zell am See (15 min by bus).

If you are looking for a private lesson snowboarding, the other half would say Johan was great.
€120 for 2 hours is a bit steep but set her up for a great weeks snowboarding.

Overall I would recommend the chalet and Kaprun as resort A*

The staff at this Crystalski chalet are REALLY nice. Pleasant, unbelievably helpful and will do anything they can to assist. No complaints at all. The food is extremely tasty and the chef does everything he can to accommodate your needs. Thank you Ollie for all your assistance as well.

The rooms are fairly basic but fine. Beds comfortable.

I would say that the owners of this chalet need to furnish the staff with some more equipment to make their lives easier. A bigger sugar pot, milk jug, more cups, more pillows, more towels, more hooks to hang wet ski gear on etc. This is my only minor niggle.

It's a bit of a walk to the ski bus stops (not so much distance, but the chalet is on a steep hill, which can be tiring in ski gear).

The chalet experience was lovely though and we met some great people, which you don't always get with a hotel or apartment.

Recommend!

We stayed at the Abendruh Chalet from 11th-17th January, this was our first time participating in a chalet holiday and after last weeks experience we will 100% doing it again!
Georges food was amazing (we had planned to eat out more often than just the chalet staffs day off but found that we didn't want/need to.)
Oli - the chalet supervisor was nothing but professional throughout the week and was often checking if our food was ok and that we was enjoying our week.
Both Rachel and Olivia - the chalet hosts, were efficient in clearing our plates throughout meal times and keeping drinks re filled as well as being very pleasant to chat to.

Rooms were always clean and tidy after we returned from our day.

During our trip myself and my partner got engaged and the chalet staff were nice enough to provide us with a bottle of sparkling wine to help us celebrate! We loved the chalet so much we are even contemplating booking the Abendruh chalet again and having our wedding in Kaprun!

book with 100% confidence!

If you are looking for a great value skiing holiday with the chalet experience you can`t go far wrong with this chalet. The staff are a great team - all very friendly and the cook is top notch. If you have any food allergies or simply didn`t like what was on the menu he was happy to cook an alternative (great news if you are travelling with kids)

We had a large room, with a big leather sleigh bed. I would say the accommodation was more basic than luxurious but it was comfortable and clean with loads of storage space.

The ski bus stop was a 5 minute walk away to get to the glacier in Kaprun or 2 minutes to get the bus to ski school and the local village ski area. To get to Zell am See you need to get a bus into the village centre then another bus to Zell - worth it as it is a nice area to ski but allow maybe 45 minutes from leaving the chalet to starting skiing.

There were plenty of good value restaurants within a 10 - 15 minute walk which was good news for the night when the staff have their day off.

Room Tip: We had room 4 which is a good sized double room. Take a travel mirror as there are no mirrors near the sockets when drying hair!
