I cannot fault this hotel. A very warm, traditional Austrian welcome from all the staff, all of whom spoke excellent English, spotlessly clean everywhere, great food for breakfast and dinner, and a very comfortable room. And it was reasonably priced too. Highly recommended.

We had a family holiday to this hotel in August and it was stunning. Beautiful place, lots to do and the most amazing food! The team are super helpful, very friendly and welcoming and the chef is fantastic. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the pool and sauna very welcome after long steep walks on the mountains with two teenagers. We all enjoyed it immensely, maybe we'll be able to return some day, hope so!

Room Tip: The family room we had was huge and situated at the rear of the hotel so very peaceful with views of...

A very well run and friendly family hotel. Centrally located in the middle of the village of Kaprun. 2 minute walk to the ski bus and 5 minute walk to the slopes.
Excellent food, excellent and friendly staff. Good choice of food to suit everyone's needs, both breakfast and dinner and returning from the mountains to tea and cakes is a massive bonus!

New Year gala dinner was amazing!
Would recommend to anyone.

We spent a week at the Tauernof Hotel including Xmas. We had a great time. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. everywhere is spotless. We didn't use the spa but made the most of the swimming pool and sauna. One of the highlights was the fantastic 6-course evening meals which were very refined and excellent. The bus stop is only 50m away from the hotel. Beware of checking the weather (there is a dedicated TV channel for the glacier and the Schmitten mountain) - on a windy day the glacier may have limited runs opened.

My husband and I have been coming to Kaprun to ski every year for nearly the past decade. When we do go to Kaprun, we stay in this Hotel! We are drawn there by the value of their ski packages that included half-board as well as ski passes. The quality of the food is unsurpassed! Breakfast is varied and plentiful. But dinner is exquisite. Each night you sit in their comfortable and spacious dining room and are treated to six course meal, beginning with a delicious buffet of salads, followed by a soup and then starter course. Each day there is a selection of main courses: an Austrian dish, an International dish, and a Vegetarian dish. Though we do not have children, they have their own varied dinner choices as well. After dinner there is a dessert course followed by cheese, nuts and grapes from the salad bar. In the afternoons, there is even a small selection of snacks to tide you over.

This year our stay included the American holiday of Thanksgiving. We made a special request to have turkey that night. The staff searched for fresh turkey and roasted the drumsticks and served them with delicious sides including cranberries! It was fantastic and we really appreciated all the touches the chef did for us!

The accommodations are also wonderful. Every room has a balcony and really great views. We have stayed in junior suites as well as double rooms and find them tastefully decorated, very modern, and most important, extremely comfortable.

The hotel has recently renovated its pool and spa area. We loved the sauna options and the relaxation rooms. Overall we highly recommend the hotel for its beautiful surroundings, delicious food and incomparable service.

I stayed at the Tauernhof for a week in August through Thomson. I was very happy with the hotel. The food was excellent both at breakfast and at dinner. The waitresses were very friendly. Wines were great too.

They are creating a new spa at the moment. There is a lovely, smallish, indoor pool and sauna there already.

The area is lovely. We visited Salzburg, the high Alpine dams and Tauern Spa. We also went up the Kitzsteinhorn and the Schmittenhohe on the Zell am See Summer Card (free with the hotel).

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The rooms were huge. We had the family suite which overlooks the mountains and the nursery slopes. The room and the hotel in general was very clean and we had maid service daily. The food was excellent. Many choices although by the end of the week they toned it down slightly but every day we were looking forward to breakfast and dinner. The afternoon snacks where ok but I found they were repeating the same foods too much.
Location, excellent. In the town centre and near the ski bus stop. if you are a beginner the nursery slopes are just behind the hotel.
The ski locker room was in the basement so a bit of a treck up and down but it was ok. We would visit again!

Room Tip: the rooms at the back have much nicer view than the front rooms which overlook the road.

Hotel Tauernhof enjoys a quiet yet central location in the town center of Kaprun. Our house serves as an ideal base for hikes, water sports on the Zeller See, sightseeing trips, as well as wintery skiing enjoyment on the nearby pistes of the Zell am See-Kaprun ski area. Kaprun Kaprun lies in the Pinzgau district, surrounded by the wonderful mountain world of the Hohe Tauern range as well as the Zell am See-Kaprun region. Guests from around the world treasure the breathtaking nature all around us and the sincere brand of hospitality for which SalzburgerLand is renowned. But don't just take our word for it - experience it all for yourself, during your vacation at Hotel Tauernhof. A 60-year tradition of hospitality unites the Gschwandtner family with the Tauernhof. From the time this place was opened back in 1953, the mother of Gerald Gschwandtner ran the inn with her three sisters. Over the years, the family business was steadily expanded, most recently in 2012 with the building of a new, 500 m² wellness oasis christened the "Tauernreich". And so it was that, over the course of time, an inn was transformed into a hotel, one that more than does justice to the high expectations of modern hospitality. Tradition tried-and-true Today it is Gerald Gschwandtner and wife Inge who run the Tauernhof, constantly keeping a close eye on the wellbeing of their guests. With their children Rudi and Christina, the next generation is already standing right there at their side in order to continue a time-tested tradition on into the future.
