This little tiny place with an outdoor waiting room was unassuming from the outside. As we walked through the door, it turned out to be a bustling little enclave. There were two seats near the bar and that was it. Everything was full and humming. We asked for a table and they told us they were fully booked for the week. So we sat down for a cocktail and had a lovely chat with the woman behind the bar who happened to be the one to determine seating. She told us we could wait to see if a table opened up or we could have dinner at the bar. When the time came, she asked a couple at a table for 4 if we could join them. The lovely British couple agreed.
What a warm old-world charming atmosphere. The food was inventive traditional and superb. We ordered the specials. A phenomenal home made calves liver pate with coarse bread for the first course which we split. Then a sliced veal dish in a dark gravy with cranberries and a special dumpling for me and a venison goulash for my husband. It was glorious. Schnapps for dessert and we were happy. If only we could have fit desserts as the menu was super enticing. A big treat. Make reservations as soon as you get into town so as not to be disappointed.
