We spent one night here and fell in love with it. The room decorations really enhance the family atmosphere. The price is VERY reasonable. It's just a very relaxing place to experience Plains.

I spent two nights in February at the Plains Historic Inn while on a business trip and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend a stopover and visit with Jan. The rooms are unique, clean, spacious, and comfortable. The old claw-footed cast iron tub took me back to my childhood. The other guests at this small Inn were friendly and very enjoybale company. We ate dinner together and swapped stories over a bottle of wine. It's unlike any other place I have spent the night, more like a B&B run by a longtime friend.

It is hard to put into words all the amazing facets of this experience. The Inn is so well done and maintained that it feels like home each time we come back. There is so much to do or you can do nothing and have a wonderful time. Attending President Carter's Sunday School class is always inspiring and uplifting. The people of Plains also make the experience something special. Jan Williams, the manager of The Plains Historic Inn does everything humanly possible to make each of her guests feel welcome and cared for. This is where we go when we want to renew our souls and we have never been disappointed.

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful. Our favorite is the Presidential Suite, the 1970's room,,

The Plains Historic Inn is the most delightful place to be! We arrived in Plains during a ferocious thunderstorm, yet upon entering the antiques shop below the Inn, we were so warmly greeted that the travel weariness faded instantly. Upon entering the Inn upstairs, the scene was breathtaking. Now you must understand, for my age I am very old-fashioned and nostalgic: I like the antique, the old, the refurbished and this Inn has all of that, plus charm and a sense of decency and calm that you don't find many places anymore. We enjoyed sitting in the common room in the evening drinking coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) talking to fellow travelers, and eating breakfast there together the next morning. The rooms are delightfully decorated in the style of the decade they represent, right down to the reading material. I will return someday, perhaps to show some family members, or simply to return to the place that just couldn't possibly exist...

Room Tip: My mom was in a wheelchair for many years and even though she has passed on, I mentally critique pla...

Our recent vist to hear President Carter would not have been the same if we would have stayed anywhere else! This hotel is special! The Inn has an interesting history, beautiful rooms and deco, perfect location and the added benifit of the opportunity to meet Miss Jan who runs the Inn as well as Sunday School. I know I am gushing but I am so thankful that I booked our stay in Plains here. This trip was a dream come true for me and was enhanced so much because we had the good fortune to stay here. Thanks to Miss Jan and her assistant for making our stay so special!!

Room Tip: Every single room is excellent. You simply cannot go wrong!

We stayed in the Plains Historic Inn for 1 night in December &loved it! You get a lot for the price. In our room, we had our own sitting room, Christmas tree, wonderful antiques, etc. Very friendly owners, too. Can't recommend it enough!

Room Tip: Each room is a different decade of Jimmy Carter's life and you can choose your own room. It dep...

We spent three nights in Plains GA, and the Historic Inn was the VERY BEST! I can not encourage people more; you must come to Plains and you must stay at the Inn. The rooms are all different, but wonderful in their individual ways. We booked the 1970's room, and it is amazing. Beautifully decorated, but comfortable and quiet. We were there in December and the Christmas decorations were charming. The common area is pleasant, and sitting on the verandah watching the peanut trucks go by the Jimmy Carter Campaign Headquarters and Billy Carter's Gas Station was a page out of history.
Plains was great fun, a real small town experience. Do not expect nightlife, but the Inn is so nice that is where you want to be anyway. We spent time exploring, going to the Carter Boyhood Farm, the Museum, and the Campaign Headquarters, but the highlight was attending the Sunday School where Mr. Jimmy taught the lesson. We stayed on the for service, and Mr. Jimmy and Miss Rosalynn were sitting right behind us! Afterwards they very graciously will have their picture taken with anyone interested, what a memory! We felt very special.
Miss Jan is the nicest person, and we so enjoyed all her stores and the information she gave us. She makes your stay seamless, and you will come away with an experience to cherish. We met such nice people, ate good food, and slept well. I can not stress it enough.......Go to Plains GA and stay at the Historic Inn!!!!.

Room Tip: Look at the rooms on the website and make your choice. They are all decorated to the decade, and ar...
