What a great location looking the full length of the lake.
Our room was spotless and a good size.
Breakfast was well catered and staff very helpful no rushing, just a gentle start to the day. If the weather is good you can take both breakfast and dinner out on the private terrace. Dinner is a more tradition Austrian menu with choices.
Sunbathing lawn with step like ladder leading down into the lake if you want to swim.
A great place for a holiday would return without hesitation.

Lovely hotel, lovely location, wonderful staff. Would have been the perfect break except for one irritating problem which ultimately cost us monetarily & which robbed us of peace & relaxation !

Initially everything was beyond perfect. Then we started to notice many guests (Including a former Mayor from the UK) were rather nervously whispering under their breath of one member of staff who we later understood fully as to why she was labelled “The Matron or the Commandant” ! & why many guests felt uncomfortable & oppressed by her presence !

Turn a corner & she was there watching ! Climb the stairs & she was there ! Go outside & you’ve guessed it, she was there !!! Eerie to say the least !!!
Then it dawned on me (plus the abundance of family pictures adorning the walls !) That the person in question was actually “The Owner” !!! Clearly over anxious at leaving her extremely capable staff to run matters, she desperately felt the need to be everywhere at once, which I have to say was rather somewhat disconcerting !

Attempting to ignore the aforementioned we endeavoured to make the best of our stay, enjoying the good bits about the hotel & it’s lovely peaceful location. The serenity then sadly destroyed for x3 nights by a family with a screaming baby & a toddler which must have been in training for a marathon, as was running up & down continuously, the vibrations of which were loudly echoing throughout our room, late into the night & again repeated early in the morning !!! We mentioned the aforementioned problem immediately but no action was taken ! But was at least hopeful something, some form of compensation would be forthcoming upon checking out especially as our peace was destroyed through no fault of our own ! Also having speculated highly in the form of x2 rooms.

The advice given by the “Owner” on checking out = “Did you speak to your neighbouring guests about the noise” !!!

On stopping over at a Hilton hotel on our way home they were shocked at the unprofessional advice given & the lack of monetary compensation ! In conclusion I can only assume the problems ensued because the hotel is a “Family run” hotel.

Upon my return to the uk I have sent x2 emails to the hotel, alas no response has been forthcoming.

stayed at the hotel from 10 October to 21 October 2017, hotel location was great and staff in house keeping and kitchen are amazing and friendly , BUT the Owner and her daughter were mean and really need to learn the meaning of hospitality and how to keep the guest happy, example they were upset that i had laundry and refused to do it, as i walked away she came and took the bag from my hands and with upset face asked how you have laundry you just arrived and i said i was in munich for 3 days before coming here so what i have laundry this is a hotel. then she agreed,
then she refused that i upgrade my room which i dont know why still but it was 1st day i did not want to get upset more than im already am, so 3 days later i had laundry and she looked at me and puffed with laud sound like oh no not you again , i was like here we go again....

i dont know whats wrong with her and her daughter but i think they dont like Arabs at all regardless good or bad to them they are all the same .

We have just returned home after a stay at the hotel Schuetzenhof. The hotel occupies an excellent location with stunning views looking up the full length of lake Fuschl. We had a room with a balcony and a wonderful view of the lake .The room looked as though it had recently Been updated and was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped.

We thought Fuschl was a great place to explore the region and it was only a half hour journey into Salzburg.Fuschl is smaller and much less busy than St Gilgen and St Wolfgang but still very pretty and uncommercialised. The hotel provided us with a gratis Salzkammergut card that provided with us with up to 30% off the regions main attractions. We made good use of this on the Salt mine tour and furnicular in Halstat, the cable car and ice caves on the Dachstein and the ferry and cog railway up the Shafenburg.

We were also very pleased that we had arranged to go half board at the hotel as it provided very good Austrian food and was very reasonably priced. The hotel has a lovely lakeside garden area for sun bathing, swimming access to the lake and dining outside in the evening.

The hotel appears to be a very well run family business, the owners and staff were very friendly and worked hard to provide a great level of service, with small touches like bringing us blankets to take off the evening chill after the sun had set.

All in all I would definitely recommend the hotel Schuetzenhof for a relaxing break and would definitely consider returning in the future.

The hotel is well situated with sun terrace and views across the lake. Our room was well appointed with a sitting area, desk with stationery, TV and balcony. The bed was comfortable and bathroom well stocked with ample toiletries, refreshed each day. Lovely fluffy towels and bathrobes, changed daily, if needed. The hotel staff were very attentive and friendly and most spoke English. The food was excellent with a large selection of breakfasts and waitress served 5 course evening meals. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the lake are light and bright but rear facing rooms are larger
