We stayed at the Hanneshof for a fortnight late June/July. As we enjoy a quiet environment we had e-mailed the Mayr family a few weeks before our holiday and were pleased with the room allocated to us. It was quite large, scrupulously clean, well-appointed, with sufficient space for our clothes etc., and with a private balcony overlooking the nearby church. Above all, it was peaceful.

The food was good, sometimes very good, and the service normally prompt and always friendly. After a few days the noise level from children (i.e. babies) rose quite a bit and we requested and were immediately given a table in the quietest part of the dining-room.

Filzmoos is an attractive village which nestles below the magnificent Dachstein mountains. Thanks to the local bus service which took us up to the Hofalm and the Bachlalm we were able to enjoy walking of a very high quality and still return to the welcoming Hanneshof in the evening, ready and hungry for chef''s latest offering.

A relaxing holiday in a well-run hotel.

This is supposed top be a four star hotel. Paid extra for a room with a sitting area ! Two chairs and a small table at the end of the bed cannot be considered as a sitting area.Compare this to say the Hotel Therese in Hinterglemm or the Post Hotel in Ischgl where their sitting areas are the size of a small room. Would you expect to pay for the hire of a bath robe and purchase the bath slippers in a four star hotel ? The bathroom was so small and poorly laid out that you could sit on the toilet and clean your teeth at the same time. Everything was very clean and the food was very good but unfortunately this was all let down by the level of customer service throughout the hotel. This started at the top with the owner, who was eventually found, to check us in. No communication at all from him just taken to our room and left without saying a word leaving the key in the lock outside. Would you expect to wait for one and a quarter hours before receiving the main course in the dining room. That was the worse but extremely slow service most nights. There appears to be nobody in overall charge of the dining room. Never saw anybody behind the bar to serve customers at any time during our stay, so we went out to another hotel in the evenings. The service is so impersonal throughout.There is no heart here. Our stay was such a disappointment compared to the numerous four star hotels we have stayed in Austria. We would not stay in this hotel again and would not recommend it to others.

I cannot agree with the other review. I stayed at the end of the summer season and was upgraded to the apartments across the road owned by the hotel-something I have never had being a single taveller! Al the hotel's facilities were available to me and the service and food were very good, the staff were most helpful. I would stay again.

Service was really poor and the hotel staff was anything but helpfull or friendly - especially in the dinning area. I am talking about waiters.For a first couple of seconds it was ok - untill they recognize that we have some accent. And suddenly they started to be a very very rude, even hateful. But in the quiet way - they didn't smile or talk with us, moved us to the tiny table (we were 4) , although they urgued with us couple of times (once near to 30 minutes nobody has come to our table). My husbend and two children usually don't pay much attention on thouse things, but even they started to recognaze that something wrong. In third day we asked the owner to move us to another area - but that didn't chance the much. So if you are not a local citizen - don't come where - belive me - it will be a torture. I definetly do not recomend this hotel! Very disapointing experience. We come to Austria every year in a winter - by far the worst experience in our life!!!
By the way - all sad also includes recepton stuff - exept the owner - he was really nice.
