My friends and I have been staying in apartments during our weekly skiing holidays for the last 10 years and we have to rate Haus Spencer right up there in our top 3. We were greeted by Rob and Bev on arrival with welcoming smiles and lots of information about the area - particularly helpful as one of our group is a non skier who just enjoys "sight seeing" and relaxing in the apartment while we are struggling to stay upright on the slopes!
As Rob is a qualified sports masseur and physiotherapist we soon found out about aches and pains we didn't know we had ..... seriously, a massage from Rob is a very worthwhile experience. Meanwhile, Bev makes a mean cheesecake - we were treated to a piece of orange cheesecake that was delicious.
We have always looked for apartments that are in small resorts that give us access to a much wider ski area and Filzmoos fits the bill. It is a charming small town and a great base if you want to travel around a bit. We would call ourselves good intermediate skiers and within 30 minutes by car there are at least another 7 towns and villages with ample skiing to keep us amused for a week. Filzmoos itself is compact, walking from the apartment to the heart of the town takes 5 minutes, as does the walk to the nearest gondola lift - and it is a flat walk.
As a group we have never returned to the same resort, but on our way home we agreed Filzmoos (and in particular, Haus Spencer) would be worth a further visit. Hasta la vista, baby (doesn't sound quite the same in German) - we'll be back!
