I want to leave a thorough review, the house has amazing views and interior/exterior structural design. We were comfortable with 10 people for the weekend. The pool was great and a worker came every morning to clean it. The beds/sheets/towels were comfortable and the rooms had a/c.The kitchen had everything you need to cook and there is a charcoal grill you can use.
Now lets get to the details that can be improved. I understand that the higher price I paid could be the season rate but because of that I had higher expectations. The house sits high on a hill, it appears that the main entrance trail was destroyed and not accessible. You have to enter through the back trail which is high terrain and basically dirt road. I would only recommend 4x4 cars or trucks, thankfully I knew this and we came in two trucks and even then you have to go slow and careful (like a 10 minute ride up especially the first time.) However, because of this dirt road I am not sure it is safe to go in the wet season it looks like it can flood or a vehicle can get stuck in the mud with all the rain. Also, we didn't leave the house after dark for the fear of having an accident because there is no lighting along the trail, which was sort of good because we got to enjoy the house more. The living room furniture and outdoor furniture has their wear and tear and its probably time to exchange or clean. Also, the wifi does not reach the entire house and can easily be exhausted if too many people are logged on, the internet did not work the last day we were there. The beach you see is not for bathing, it has rough seas and drops in depth real quick. Obviously the host cant do anything about that but it is something to consider if you want to go to the beach. The house is also about a 25 min drive to the nearest small grocery store, where we packed up on food because there are not many choices. Also, at night there are a lot of bugs and mosquitoes so come prepared, I didnt.
Although, it may sound like I am nit picking everything I would ultimately still recommend to a friend given that they know all the circumstances. I would also book again if some improvements are made.
Our family of 6 stayed here for the Christmas holidays and truly enjoyed the peace and quiet at the Villa. You do need a 4x4 to drive up to the house. The beach near the house is a bit rough and good for surfing but other more calm ones are driving distance away. Playa Venao is about a 35 minute drive away. Our children loved hanging out in the pool on hot days. The house was cozy, clean and well equipped. It was wonderful to have A/C during the summer months in Panama. The only complaint was that the main bedroom A/C was leaking and the upstair bedroom did not have a working A/C. Unfortunately, they were not able to fix this during our stay. This was inconvinient as we had to squeeze folks together in the other bedrooms. Libia, the house attendant, was lovely and greeted us with freshly made pastries from her bakery. If you love nature and don't mind running into toads, bats and snakes, this is the place to be. We would definitely visit again.
