We accessed this trail from the cathedral spires trail. The end of the hike is where the challenging part it. You actually get to climb the rock to the very top. It was absolutely beautiful and if you can handle the climbing part, it is well worth your time and effort to take this hike.

The "trail markers were a little confusing". The first part of the trail is combined with another trail. The first part of the trail is easy. The last part of the trail is hard. The last part of the trail is steep and over bare hard large rock outcroppings. Take some water to drink. Period! The views make the hike worth the climb.

Mostly a mundane trail that gets interesting as you near the top. The area had just been hit with an epic snowstorm a few days prior to our hike so we encountered snow in the shady areas, especially when going through the moderate rock scramble near the summit. You can see the CCC built fire tower on Black Elk Peak in the distance. Nice moderate hike.

The Needles area of the Black Hills is fantastic. Great scenery. The "Little Devil's Tower" is sitting among these rock spires. But, it's nothing in comparison the real Devil's Tower in Wyoming... don't miss the real thing!

Walked the trail around the tower. Get those pictures coming in for the great full effect shot. The tower was interresting and I went on this tour because of Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
