“Don't miss it!”
Reviewed June 4, 2010

After reading about this place on tripadvisor, we decided to try it. We loved it so much, we went there every night during our stay in Custer. They have a nice selection of ice cream, which was quite good, but do not miss the pie! We tried the cherry, strawberry rhubarb, bumbleberry (apple, rhubarb, strawberry, raspberry, and one other berry I can't recall), and coconut cream...all were delicious. We even brought a whole strawberry rhubarb pie home with us!

We also had the "light" dinner there one night...it was the best meal we had in Custer. The couple that owns the Purple Pie Place were very friendly, and helpful with other local recommendations. The wait staff was courteous and attentive, and the dessert shop and cafe area were tidy and clean. We'll make it a point to stop here again on our next visit...

“Wonderful Pie”
Reviewed May 10, 2010

The pies here are homemade by one of the owners. We had warm bumbleberry pie with vanilla ice cream. It was fabulous. They have several ice cream flavors and several types of pies. If you are looking for a great place for dessert, this is it.

“Loved the pie!”
Reviewed September 28, 2009

The Purple Pie Place was recommended to us by another visitor to Custer State Park. So, after dinner at Sylvan Lake Lodge, we had a piece of the Bumbleberry Pie (mixed berries and rhubarb). The restaurant was packed, so we got it "to go" and ate it in the car. It was really, really good - great crust, tasty mixed berry filling and of course the ice cream! We didn't eat anything else, so cannot comment on the other food.

“Worst food in recent memory”
Reviewed September 26, 2009

Sought a light supper. The green salad was wilted. The chicken on it was cold and tasted like it was canned (if there is such a thing). Disgusting and inedible.
