Stayed here for four days while touring the Black Hills. Very nice older property with all of the extras, fridge, micro, indoor pool, WiFi, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful, in a very nicely located area, minutes from many major attractions. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a very large bathroom. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely stay again.

Stayed here for 1 night and we were perfectly happy. It’s not fancy but it is reasonably priced, clean and more than adequate. We found the owner to be very helpful and overall we would be happy to recommend it.

The free breakfast in the near by restaurant was very good and the staff there were very friendly.

Motel with indoor swimming pool on short main strip of small town in Black Hills. Picturesque area with lots of wildlife. Good clean motel room, very helpful owners. Wifi speeds good. No breakfast on site but good value $1.50 voucher available for large cooked breakfast in friendly nearby family restaurant.

We are pleased to recommend this to other travelers.

Very clean and wonderful hosts. We enjoyed our stay so much the first night we decided to stay again the next night. Bruce gave us the the "99 cent tour" with lots of good information about the area. Nancy was very helpful as well. We purchase our tickets for the $1.99 breakfast at the Wrangler - well worth it!! Nancy let us use Custer State Park Pass for our day at the park - saving us $15! Really nice folks and comfortable room. Would go back in a heartbeat.

I really liked this motel. We thought about going ultra cheap and camping in cabins all six nights we visited the Black Hills/Mount Rushmore area but decided for the sanity of mom and dad to spend the first few nights in a motel before spending three nights camping. After reading the reviews here we chose the Chief Motel. The motel is nice and well taken care of. I would rate the size of the rooms as medium having stayed in larger and also much smaller rooms in my travels. The owner/manager was extremely nice and upgraded our room to a double suite because of an error in the reservation system through a travel agent. He had all this done before we even arrived! He also took a few minutes and really explained what some of the real gems are to of see in the Black Hills area (much of it free to do so no it wasn't like they are getting comped for this). The rooms were clean and the beds were surprisingly comfortable for a motel. Parking is assigned to the rooms right in front of them so easy parking. Everything went very well, no issues at all! This motel is located right on Custer's main artery and is very convenient to see Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Hill City, and Keystone. Really enjoyed staying here and would recommend. When we revisit the area we will be repeat customers!
