This cabin has everything you'll need. We were a party of six. It's close to the lodge and grocery store in Custer. On our first night returning with groceries we were surprised by a buffalo right by the cabin. The kids were so excited to see a buffalo for the first time. The only negative was that it only had one bathroom. It took a bit of planning for showers. If they added a bathroom in the downstairs bedroom it would rank five stars. We were centrally located to see all the sites. We will never forget our stay at the Centennial cabin and beautiful Custer State Park!

We stopped by here for a break after driving the Wildlife byway to use restrooms and do some shopping and eat ice-cream on a very hot day. The staff is very nice. We decided to eat lunch after second thoughts. My friend ordered burger with cole slaw, my husband, fish and chips with cole-slaw. I requested some thing vegetarian. The chef prepared penne pasta with mushrooms in its own sauce with butter. It was delicious and portion size was perfect. We were able to finish all our entrees. We had the blue bunny ice-cream. There were only 2 male servers both to cater to lunch guests and ice-cream area. Hence the service was slow. By the time we were ready to leave, the restaurant was full and 2 more lady waitresses joined the staff. Only thing that annoyed us was the presence of 3 large flies at the table and we noticed there were many flies in the restaurant...I would certainly suggest doing something about the annoying pests. If it was not for the flies, I would have rated the restaurant 4 stars. The place was clean, even the bathrooms thank god, far away from the restaurant area was very clean. The outside view with a lake is outstanding.

The staff is friendly but the service is slow. The food is good, but I wouldn't drive out of the way to eat here. If you pass by while hungry and have some time to wait, then it's worth a stop. Also, don't expect a lodge as the name implies, it's more of a country diner.

While driving from one attraction to another in the Black Hills wehappened upon the Lodge anddecided to stop for lunch. The setting is wonderful and the food delightful. The server was new and it showed but he made an effort and was adequate. The soup and sandwich combinations were deligthful and the sandwiches were very tasty. The cole slaw was a pleasant surprise with the inclusion of apples. All in all a very pleasant surprise. We will be sure to revisit the lodge when we return to the area.

We were not expecting much at this unsuspecting out of the way lodge for lunch. were ever wrong it was THE BEST lunch we have had in a long time. Fresh made home chicken noodle soup from scratch. Freshly cooked onion rings. And the best, an unbelievable Reuben sandwich. Really!
Starbucks Coffee, excellent water, great ambiance, what else is there to say. GO.

Enjoy!
