My sister took me to see "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" at the Black Hills Playhouse on July 14. It was WONDERFUL. I saw the movie years ago and wasn't excited about the movie, so this was a delightful surprise. Eric Johnson leads a cast with impressive voices and acting abilities. He, Jeff Kinsbury, and Ceci Quintero stood out to me with their brilliant comedic timing. They cracked me up!!! The theater is historic and fun to visit on its own, but I'm sure it creates serious staging challenges. That said, the director did a terrific job of using the intimate atmosphere of the playhouse to include the audience in the play. The asides, the blocking through the aisles, seemed natural and pulled the audience right in. Thank you sis, for the great birthday present!
