“Pleasantly surprised!”

Stayed here for 1 nite. Had a king room which was very clean & nicely furnished with a sofa & 2 overstuffed chairs in a rustic pattern. Had a wonderful lodge feeling. Quiet. Nice view. Had a delicious dinner at the State Game Lodge which is across the parking lot, Wildlife driving trail is less than 1 mile away. Got up early to drive the trail & then ate breakfast at Blue Bell Lodge. Breakfast is not included at the Creekside. Breakfast at Blue Bell was very good. Two drawbacks at Creekside: 1) upon arrival we found we had to go over to the State Game Lodge to sign in for our room, and 2) the staff at check-in were very disorganized. But these were really minor things compared to the great stay we had in the park.

We stayed here for the location in Cusyer State Park only. It is totally worth it to stay inside the park for a Black Hills/Mount Rushmore trip!! Saves you at least 30 min each way every day.
The girl at the front desk upon check in was neither friendly, nor helpful, but I'd bet she was a summer intern. I had low expectations for the room, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was almost as nice as the newly remodeled Hampton Inn we stayed at on the way to South Dakota.
There is no food service in the building, but the walk across the parking lot to the State Game Lodge was not an issue.
Our room coffee maker didn't work the first morning, but we mentioned it on the way out for the day, and a new one was in our room when we returned. There were no pillows for the foldout couch in the room, but when we asked, they were furnished to us. If we come back, I would stay at Sylvan Lake Lodge to be closer to the water, but overall, not a bad stay.

The rooms at creek side are on the level of a Holiday Inn... probably a 2.5 star hotel. Everything seemed clean and the lobby area was very nice. For the money.. this place is a bit over priced. If I were to visit the area again I doubt very seriously if I would stay here again. The only real thing this lodge has going for it is the location ... which is spectacular

We stayed here only one night, but it was a very good stay. Room was clean and nicely furnished. Beds were comfortable. The rooms are furnished with nice looking furniture in great condition. The hotel is attractive, comfortable, quiet and beautifully set. We truly enjoyed our one night stay.

The restaurant serving the hotel is a short walk away in the adjacent Custer State Game Lodge, where 3 meals a day are served. Food was good. Service was quick and pleasant. There is also a bar there.

We watched a herd of bison ambling about on the road past the Lodge after breakfast. It was a delight and a wonderful way to start the day in buffalo country.

Room Tip: They're all equally good - really

We stayed here on Easter Sunday 2013, out of season. We were checked in by the cleaner/receptionist who was great, very friendly and told us about the hotel, breakfast etc. I wasnt expecting much of this hotel but it was really great. We had a room upstairs with a balcony overlooking the park. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Because it was out of season there was no restaurant so we drove to Custer but all the restaurants were closed due to it being Easter Sunday. We ended up buying food from a supermarket and taking it back to our room and ate it on the balcony. It was fab! A really great stay and I wished we had stayed for another night. Will definitely stay here again when we are in this area.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the top floor (1ST Floor)with a blacony. Beautiful views.

We stayed here for two nights in April 2013. Creekside Lodge is located just off Route 16A (Wildlife Loop Road) and is a very modern hotel with an exterior look of an older mountain cabin. There is ample paved parking just off the hotel and there are several swipecard keyed entry doors in addition to the main entrance.

We stayed at the hotel off-season, but still received good service from the front desk staff. The room was clean and well furnished. Our room had a flat screen TV, coffee pot, fridge and microwave. While the room was accessed from an interior corridor, we had an external door that led to a small deck area that overlooked the creek and route 16A several hundred yards beyond. There were several chairs provided and we sat and enjoyed watching the deer feed during the evening and morning.

The first morning we got a continental breakfast, but the second morning we didn't. There was no-one at the desk to question quite why this was when we checked out. Strange that it was provided one day and not the next, however it was off-season.

We didn't use it, but there was a large stone fireplace in the general seating area that would have been quite pleasant during a cold night. There were two large meeting rooms, but we didn't use these either.

We stayed 2 nights at the Creekside Lodge, and judging from the pictures online expected a nice modern room with all the ammenities. Unfortunately the window in our room was extremely small, making the place very dark. Several thing in the room were broken, they gave us the wrong type of coffee for the coffee pot, and the comforter does not have a removable duvet - meaning its been used many times before us, and not cleaned. We aren't super picky city gals, but for the price, we expected quite a bit more. One big plus however was wildlife passing by right outside our deck, which mad it worth while for us.

Room Tip: Make sure you request your room to face the creek, not the parking lot.
