For the money can't beat it. It is near custer state park. The rooms was big and clean. The Owner(lee) was very nice and show us were we should eat at. We went to the round up it was perfect place to stay at the motel.

We chose this place based on reviews and couldn't have been more pleased. We wanted a room to accomodate four adults on a tight budget and with pets. We were delighted with the room, and the manager was incredibly helpful and accommodating. The rooms were simply furnished but just fine for the price. We totally enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Two room unit with kitchen, great for family or two couples.

first booked this hotel after reading the reviews here, this place is reasonable, nothing fancy and very, very clean. small college fridge and microvawe, hot shower and they also clean your room everyday. We went for the Sturgis rally 8/3/ to 8/8 2013, the ownr lynn even had towels to dry the cycle, only 2 1/2 miles from the Custer State park, close to Mt. Rushmore, needles highway and Crazy Horse mountain. We will definitely going back and staying here next time. already have plans for Sturgis rally in 2014, also bringing the kids with us. Met great people that come every year at the same time for the last 20 to 25 years. you will not regerat staying here. She also had coffee every morning by 6:45 am and donuts. jose from Madison, WI

I also found this motel on trip advisor and VERY glad we stayed here. we were travelling with a group of nine (including 5 children). Lee made us feel like family, the motel rooms were very clean and standard and very well priced. She even made my mom some tea after finding out that she likes it better than coffee. There was a swingset for the kids as well as a fairly good size yard for a friendly game of football for the kids. the location worked out perfectly as it was within 40 minutes of all the attractions we were visiting which made it easy to return to for lunches or naps.Lee was extremely knowledgeable in the area and was extremely helpful with directions and after hearing what our interests were she also pointed out some sites that we had not been aware of. Thanks again.

Room Tip: if you are traveling with larger group, you will only need one of the rooms with a kitchenette, the...

We arrived in Custer late in the evening and were looking for an affordable place to crash. After checking a few places, a gal from the Shady Rest Motel reccommended I call Lynn at the Valley Motel. She was the nicest, most helpful, and my accommodating lady I have ever met. The room was very standard but clean and had a TV, fridge, private bathroom, towels ... And she made coffee especially for us in the morning. We paid $47 after tax for the room, which was cheaper than any other place we could find in Custer.

This is an older motel and a little worn but the room was clean and the price was right. The desk clerk was courteous and friendly but the owner/manager quarters were behind the office. I was turned off by the cooking smells from the apartment. I do not care for Indian food and the dinner time smells were prominent. There was a breakfast but with the same smells continuing we decided to go elsewhere. I probably would go elsewhere next visit but would have to pay more money so if you want to save money and are just spending the night this is a good choice. Also, it had a good shower head.

Found this motel on tripadvisor and so glad we called it. Lee has the best rates, clean rooms and she knows the area inside and out. You aren't going to find anything cleaner or cheaper. It is a basic Mom and Pop Motel but it felt like so much more. We ended up staying two more nights because there is so much to do there and the price was right! It is right in the middle of everything. Easy access to Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Highway and Custer State Park. Also very close to Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. I recommend Custer over Rapid City, Keystone or Hill City as the place to stay for all the attractions! And the Valley Motel is the best place to stay. Lee can tell you where to fish, hike and scope out animals. We will be staying here again!
