This is an older motel and a little worn but the room was clean and the price was right. The desk clerk was courteous and friendly but the owner/manager quarters were behind the office. I was turned off by the cooking smells from the apartment. I do not care for Indian food and the dinner time smells were prominent. There was a breakfast but with the same smells continuing we decided to go elsewhere. I probably would go elsewhere next visit but would have to pay more money so if you want to save money and are just spending the night this is a good choice. Also, it had a good shower head.

Found this motel on tripadvisor and so glad we called it. Lee has the best rates, clean rooms and she knows the area inside and out. You aren't going to find anything cleaner or cheaper. It is a basic Mom and Pop Motel but it felt like so much more. We ended up staying two more nights because there is so much to do there and the price was right! It is right in the middle of everything. Easy access to Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Highway and Custer State Park. Also very close to Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. I recommend Custer over Rapid City, Keystone or Hill City as the place to stay for all the attractions! And the Valley Motel is the best place to stay. Lee can tell you where to fish, hike and scope out animals. We will be staying here again!

Arrived in the evening, and Leanne welcomed us at about 10, as she had gone to sleep. Motel was pretty dead, and the lights were off. She was very friendly, and put us in a room with two twins and a queen. Older room, but roomy with microwave and fridge. Coffee in the morning and a mile from Custer State Park. Price was good at $55 dollars a night. Satisfactory Experience.

Room Tip: Room Number 9 was excellent.

It may not look like much from the outside, but the rooms are very charming (cabin like feel), spotless, and comfortable. Each comes with heating/AC, a TV, fridge, and microwave. For under $50 a night, this is the absolute best value you'll get in the Custer area and beats the overpriced alternatives. The owner is very friendly and pleasant, which adds to the positive experience. Keep in mind these are simple accommodations and at this price range, motels provide soap but not shampoo so bring your own.

The motel is located just out side town and across the street from a spur of the Mickelson walking/biking trail. There is easy access to the town of Custer and to Custer State Park. The rooms are charming, spotlessly clean, quiet and very reasonably priced. Much better option that any hotel chain. Leanne, the owner was extremely helpful and couldn't have been more welcoming. She did everything to make our trip perfect! We will definitely be back. Thanks Leanne! I highly recommend this motel.

MY WIFE AND I STAYED HERE A FEW TIMES IN THE LAST 5 YEARS. THE PRICE IS THE BEST IN THE CUSTER AREA.THE OWNER LEANNE IS GREAT AND SHE IS VERY HELPFUL. The rooms are clean and kept up. Simple rooms with cable tv, beds, shower, and a fridge. Just what you need after a long day of hiking and fishing. There is a couple grills you can use to cook and picnic tables out side. The best part is its a mile east of town towards the state park..so its quit and has a nice atmosphere. Thank you Leanne for making us feel special.! A++

The hotel had basic accommodations but was clean and quiet and adequate for our needs. All other hotels are overpriced in Custer area, we saved our money and went to CircleB Ranch dinner instead!!
