My husband and I decided to spend the night at Legion Lake. The cabin was overpriced for what you get. Also, the lake is beautiful, but the beach is very small. There were families there who seemed to have 60 kids each, so it was super loud too. Not a relaxing experience.

The legion Lake campground is much newer than other's in the park and not as many sites but ours was perfect! We were next to the very congenial host, Ralph, and looked right across the road to Legion Lake. The sites are all paved and there might be a few undesireable ones but most are great. From our site we watched the same buck and doe cross the road from one set of trees to the next. They went back everyday.
Our neighbors related that a few buffalo walked through the camp one day - what a sight that would have been!
The restrooms were very clean, as were the showers.
Ralph came by daily to see how we were doing, and called the rangers for us when we wanted to know where the buffalo were. A very nice camp, very clean and friendly.

Small beach, run down facilities and chilly water. There's gotta be a better beach in the area.

They have boating, a restaurant, a short walk around the lake and swimming. We had planned this to be our lazy day after 3 long days of biking, hiking and sight seeing. It was great.

Legion Lake is far less crowded than Sylvan Lake, even though Legion Lake has a nice sandy beach and playground area for kids. Its smaller size made it perfect for our kids to enjoy without needing to be reminded to stay closer to shore. The hiking trail around the lake offers a variety of terrains, from pine woods, to grassland, to rocky hills -- all in one mile! Finish off the hike with a Starbucks iced coffee from the resort lodge -- now that's a great start to the day! End the day with a Heineken and some ice cream on the deck as the ducks and ducklings get ready to settle in for the night -- we loved it!
