“Pretty lake with nice hike.”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

We took the Stockade Lake hike and it is a good hike, but not as fun as others we took in the park. There are so many pine trees that are down/dead because of the terrible beetle infestation in the park, that it wasn't as pretty as probably has been in the past. It took us about 40 minutes to hike it.

“Lots of fish”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

We camped at Stockade North this last time, and enjoyed the easy fishing from the shore and the fishing docks.
Not a real good lake for boating, but fishing is fun!

“Another beautiful Black Hills Lake”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

As for beauty, this Black Hills lake ranks second only to Sylvan Lake. Stockade Lake is better than Sylvan Lake in a few regards: it is more easily accessible, there are far fewer people there in the summer, and it has the appearance of a more typical mountain lake. There are no concessions there. Great place for fishing or low-speed boating. There are roads leading past the lake both on the east and west sides of the lake. Bottom line: a must stop since it's on the main highway through Custer State Park.

“Ice Fishing”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

What I mostly notice about this lake on the edge of Custer State Park is that during winter a lot of people ice fish on it. It is not a big lake, and I dont believe motorized boats are allowed during the summer.

“beautiful”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

lots of lake pull offs to enjoy the beauty. You can fish and frequently see water birds and this year the area was infested with wild turkeys--two legged; not the bottle variety. Great picnicking spots.
