Owner description: Jewel Cave National Monument is home to one of the longest caves in the world. Offering an assortment of cave formations and recreational opportunities, many visitors are truly amazed by this underground wilderness. Most impressive is the fact that exploration and discovery continue to take place at this significant natural resource. As part of the National Park Service, the Monument offers four different types of cave experiences: Scenic Tour (1 hour and 20 minutes), Discovery Talk (20 minutes) Historic Lantern Tour (1 hour and 45 minutes), and Wild Caving Tour (3 to 4 hours). During the late winter and early spring seasons, limited tour options are available. It is recommended that visitors check online for specific tour times or call the visitor center directly for park ranger assistance. NOTE: At present, advanced reservations for cave tour tickets are not available in 2017. It is hoped that this service will be available by Memorial Day Weekend; however, until further notice, all cave tour tickets are being sold on a first come first serve basis.

Great tour. You get to see some cave formations (like cave bacon) that I personally have never seen in other caves before. Guides are knowledgeable and well versed about the cave.

“Maybe not for younger kids”
Reviewed March 28, 2012

My husband and I loved the jewel cave and the Discovery Tour we went on. It was a beautiful cave. But we had our 6 yr old daughter along and it was just to long for her. So I'd say be sure caves are something your kids are excited about and it would be a great stop!

Truly an experience to be had. Not just for the 'rock hounds', it was interesting to everyone in our group.

Prettier in real life - pictures really don't do justice to any of natures wonders....worth a million words up close and personal. Take a jacket.....it's cool down there....way cool!

The cave guide was excellent. Neat day trip, not too expensive and totally interesting. Lots of steps.
