The good: the location and housekeeping. The bad: the incredibly rude front desk clerk (chuckie) and the hotel manager. Both displayed an attitude that the customer was horribly inconveniencing them with any request. Arrogant "when we get around to it" was the response to both a request to turn on the lights in the pool area and a report that money was lost in a vending machine. This hotel looks nice (and housekeeping is great) but management clearly should not be in the service business.

I have stayed at the Comfort Inn in Custer, SD 3 times in the last 5 years (2007, 2008, 2009) and it has consistently been absolutely excellent. The rooms are nice and spacious, and very clean. The breakfast is fine for this range of motel. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and the location is ideal for touring Crazy Horse, Rushmore, and other Black Hills attractions.

My first two visits were with my husband and daughter (age 11--she loved the pool:-), and my visit last year was with 10 of my college students, 2 colleagues, and 12 of my colleague's students. All of our visits were terrific! In fact, last year, despite the fact that we were a very large group, the Comfort Inn couldn't have been more accommodating. Several of my colleague's students were ill when they arrived, and we requested additional rooms so they wouldn't infect their classmates with the stomach virus. The motel was wonderful--efficient and concerned.

The price is very reasonable for the value. I will continue to stay at the Comfort Inn in Custer in all subsequent visits to the area.

A new hotel with good size rooms and nice furnishings but the lighting in the room could be improved. There were very friendly reception staff and an efficient check-in. Breakfast was chaotic and crowded the first morning and the layout and organisation could hardly cope. It was empty the next day, probably as the annual buffalo round-up and arts show was on at the same time. There was a good choice.
The hotel is a little way out of the centre but it is walkable. The location on Google maps is wrong but my GPS did get it right.

This hotel was my second favorite hotel on our vacation. It had a putt putt golf next door so that was fun for the evening. This hotel is not right in the middle of Custer so you don't have all the traffic going by all the time. It is rather quite. This Comfort Inn had the best breakfast out of the Comfort Inn Hotels I have stayed at.

We stayed here an enjoyable three nights. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and nice. we requested a room on the back and it was very quiet. There's no parking in the back, only a rising tree filled hill. The hotel is on the edge of town and well off the road. The room had plenty of space with a comfortable bed, chair, desk and dresser. The shower was basic. Our nozzle did not adjust and when we mentioned this it was fixed that day. Breakfast was adequate with waffles and biscuits and gravy making it a step up from basic continental. There's free internet off the lobby (an actual pc you can use, not just free wifi). There's onsite laundry facilities. The pool and spa are open until midnight with adults only after 10.
