The Gold Camp Cabins are a small, family owned operation. It includes 5 log cabins 4 miles west of Custer, SD. The location is okay, with a small pond, a field, and woods on one side. The other side is a farm and logging operation.
Overall, the cabin (#5) was very cute. It had beds for 6 people including one bedroom, one larger room, and a full bathroom. Very "cabin" feeling. We really liked the fire pit area and the view - lots of wild life including deer, pronghorn and coyote.
The housekeeping was our one disappointment. Never received what we were promised. We were short one pillow and one set of towels. We stayed 4 nights and it took two nights to get the extra pillow. Never did get enough towels and only midway through our stay did they wash/replace half of the towels. Never made the beds, not to mention new linens. Never took the garbage out or vacuumed. After a couple days, this was frustrating.
After seeing other options in the Black Hills, we would likely select another place to stay next time around and not chose the Gold Camp Cabins.
