Great, affordable hotel. Convenient for both Mt Rushmore & Crazy Horse, and you can walk into Custer easily.
I wanted to do a Pros & Cons list, but I can't think of any Cons.
Clean, spacious rooms in a new facility and a really nice common area with an open fire and windows onto landscaped gardens. Friendly staff.

Enjoyed our stay. HIE are always a little more but you know what you're going to get with them, this was no exception. Nice place, adequate breakfast, clean room, comfy bed. The town itself was extremely dead at end of September but that's not the hotel's fault. I'd stay again.

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed it. The hotel is beautiful with a patio area in back for enjoying the outdoors. We even saw deer out there nightly.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. I loved the fact that you could open the windows for some fresh. This seems to be rare these days.

The only negative was the less than inspirational free breakfast.

We had a nice room on the backside of the hotel where it was very quiet. The clerk was very friendly and gave us a $10 discount for the off-season. They were closing for the season shortly after we left.

We paid $109 which is pretty high but given the location and lack of competition during an extremely crowded summer season, they can command the regular price of $119. There were two of us so we got their more than adequate breakfast included.

They had a huge assortment of travel brochures from the many Black Hills attractions, lots of postcards, as well as stamps.

The back of the hotel has a very nice seating area with a waterfall feature coming down the hill. It had been closed when we were there and it snowed for the first time this year while we were there but I imagine it would be a very nice place to sit on a summer evening.

Room Tip: Get a backside room overlooking the waterfall and pond for a beautiful view. The front of the build...

We came back to stay there twice now. Every time we get a great service, good room and decent breakfast. When I am back in Custer, you bet I will be staying there again. During my last stay I had a whitetail just hanging out just outside my room window. Can not beat a whirlpool after long day of walking.

10/2/12

2 Queen Suite with balcony
Refrigerator, Microwave and wetbar
Separate sitting area
View of water feature
Free Wifi/internet
Very nice variety for breakfast in a lovely great room with floor to ceiling glass that looks out on their water feature.

The beds were very comfortable
The room was large

They were very accommodating.

The negatives are...
That there is only One elevator for a good sized hotel.
Another Hotel with Horrible Lighting in the room. Very hard to read

Overall we really did enjoy our stay and would stay again.

This hotel was an excellent choice for us as we stayed in the Custer area. It has close-enough proximity to Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore and yet it is not in a "touristy" congested area. Everything about it was great. The common area, where we had complimentary breakfasts, was beautiful, with a view of a stone waterfall outside.
