“Ahhhh, cheese”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

Welcomed by the aroma of fresh basil when I entered, there were fresh roses on all of the tables and tasteful music set at a distinctly subtle, uncommonly low volume (yay!).

I ordered the specialty, a layered cheese, eggplant and other veggie baked dish. It was absolutely delicious, having been served no cheese but white queso if I’m lucky, uneaten processed cheese slices if I’m not. They also had balsamic vinegar to go with the bread, which I have not seen since Panajachel over one month ago.

Overall a very nice experience just down the road from Posada del Cerro fronting Lake Peten Itza (it was dark and raining, not sure if there is a view).

“What a Surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

Now you might be thinking: Italian food in the middle of nowhere Guatemala? But this place is actually quite good, and has some super-friendly service to boot. The pizza was some of the best we have had in Guatemala (including in the gringo hot-spots of San Pedro La Laguna and Antigua), and the salad had a delicious dressing with plenty of lettuce (oddly a rarity in these parts). Even the desert (ice cream with melted chocolate) was heavenly. Don't miss this place for a fun dinner out.

“Yum, Cheap and Yum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

The place is just lovely, surrounded by foliage and set off from a the lake a bit. It's a nice walk to get there and the food oh my was wonderful as well as the desert. The owner is a really cool gentleman with warm food and intentions.

“Smile with a full mouth!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

This place is amazing, everything is home made. It is rustic and takes a while to have your plate served but man, is worth every single second of it.Once you taste the food an automatic smile appears on your face as the flavor invades every corner of your mouth. After an incredible meal, go for a walk the lake dock to enjoy the view of Lago Peten Itza, can't get any better than that.

“Delicious Italian food worth the walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

We ate here twice for dinner during our stay. This restaurant is a hidden gem, about a 15-minute walk from town. Just walk down the road that rings the lake, pass the horse stables on the right, and walk awhile longer until you see the gate on the right, well-signed with the name of the restaurant. Bring a flashlight!

The restaurant itself really does feel like you are sitting in their open-air living room. The pastas are made by hand (we watched the chef do it). Everything we had was delicious, although the eggplant parmesan was a little too cheesy, and not saucy enough. That said, I highly recommend this restaurant.
