Posada del Cerro in Guatemala It's a good place to stay with friends, or couple.. the food is great, and nearest to the lake in front of the hotel, clean, comfortable and relax, there's no noise and the regular rooms are ok.

We had a great stay at la posada del cerro. The setting is amazing, with view over the lake, inside the jungle. We felt really eelcomed there, the service was great and personal. They made sure to fulfil our needs and expectations, and were really available for anything we wanted. Highly recommended!

It's a nice place to stay. Perfect location just 20k from Tikal and in front of the lake which gives you an amazing view. The food was amazing, prepared from the owner Raymunda. The service was spectacular, always welcomed with a smile.

Room Tip: The second-level rooms have an amazing view of the lake and are well ventilated. But take in conside...

La Posada del Cerro was the greatest place we stayed at in Guatemala. We had the room with only 3 walls and it felt like sleeping in the jungle (Bust most rooms are regular rooms!). In the evenings we could hear the howler monkeys and the morning we got woken by the sounds of parrots. We were treated like the most special guests around. Thanks!!

stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon backpacking through Guatemala & Belize. This was a really lovely place to stay. The village of El Remate is peaceful and more off the beaten track than Flores. The food here was really great, can't fault it. Needless to say we ran ourselves up a bit of a bill as we ate there every meal! Our room was incredible, and great value for money. Really helpful hosts, helped us arrange trips to ruins in the area that were hard to get to. You'll need lots of mozzie repellent! Easy to get to Tikal via public transport from here.
If we ever find ourselves back that way we'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The open-air room is stunning and unique - but if you're nervous about security or bugs it might...

We spent a lovely two days and a night at the Posada del Cerro. Our family of four shared a two floor bungalow with thatched roof, hammocks and pleasant outdoor space. The owners were very helpful arranging kyaks for a tour of the lake and transportation to our next stop. they were also very easy about checkout time, but it may have helped that we were there in the off season. The wife is the brains of the operation, giving us great advice as to how to minimize the cost of our travel back to Guatemala City. Dinner was fair, but that is not why you come to this spot.

This is a 2013 TripAdvisor winner and it should be. I have seen wild variations in what you get between 100-200Q in Guatemala, and this hotel is worth every Quetzal. Every detail is impeccable and the service at the hotel is classy and first rate. Even the guests were quiet, polite and low-key.

There was a little family of howler monkeys in a tree on the property one afternoon as I was enjoying my surroundings and one of the gardeners was kind enough to come and get me.

My breakfast was excellent and ample.

Posada del Cerro is steps away from Biotopo Cahui and farther down the road as I ambled along I saw my first spider monkey in the wild.

A spectacular experience and a contributor to why I am in love with Peten.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad one in the bunch. If you explain to the owner what your needs are...
