This is a great hotel if you are going to a convention at the convention center. It is very convenient , right next door, but the convention center is about a mile long so depending what hall you are in you might not want to walk it. I was in Building 1 which has been renovated fairly recently. I also know that building 3 has been renovated as I had a colleague staying in that building. I am not sure about building 2. The breakfast was good, but as expected pretty expensive, however it is better than waiting in a Starbucks line 50 people deep at the convention center.
Even if you aren't attending a convention the location is pretty good. It is literally right across the street from the casino if that is your thing, the back opens out to the riverwalk. Jackson Square and the French Quarter is just a short walk away (1/2 mile ish ) and you can easily walk to Lafayette square and the warehouse district. Magazine Street and St. Charles are also accessible but I would recommend taking a cab there from the hotel.

Convenient to the convention center and casino. Walking distance to Bourbon St. or you can ricksha over there. Rooms were modern even though the hotel is aged (possible Katrina upgrade?) with flat screen TV's desks, etc. All the ammentities of a full service hotel - business center, bars, food, fitness, banquet etc.

Room Tip: River view rooms are nice until a tug boat tests its horn at 5:30AM

Hotel Is close to the river walk & close to Bourbon street if u don't mind walking. 15 min. or you can take trolley right outside of hotel. Water dept had a power outage & there was a boil water advisory in effect for 24 hours so we couldn't use water to brush our teeth or drink. I thought it was poor of hotel that they gave us just one bottle of water.

Our apologies for any inconveniences associated with the Water issue. As stated in the letter from our GM to each guest, this advisory was a precautionary measure taken by the City to ensure that our water supply had not been adversely affected. Fortunately the City was back to business in less that 24 hours. Bottled water was distributed to each guests as needed by request of the guest. If there was some miscommunication by any of our team members we certainly apologize. It sounds as though you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed having you here and we look forward to seeing you again next time your travels bring you back to New Orleans. Our Reservations and Concierge teams will be happy to assist you in planning your next stay.

while the rooms were very good, and well equipped there was a serve lack of staff in reception, and the bar when it was busy. The staff did there best but to wait up to 30 minutes to be served is not acceptable. We waited 45 minutes to book a dinner out only to be told sold out. Many guests were unhappy!

Just returned from a three night stay at the Hilton Riverside and generally speaking, all was fine. However, be prepared, the hotel is huge and therefore attracts conventions and other big groups.

The public areas were clean but showed signs of age. The pool area I found to be dirty and out-dated. The health club facility was great but there is an extra charge.

The room was very clean, comfortable, and had all of the typical hotel amenities. Maid service was pretty slow (one day my room wasn't made up until after 3pm and I left at 7:30am) and I always wonder why they are reluctant to put away the ironing board.

Other service employees were good, especially those working the executive level concierge. However, when I checked my bags for few hours after check-out, I didn't appreciate the bellman reminding me that he would not be there when I returned to get my bags.

The location of the hotel is decent. It's right along the water which is nice. But the walk to the heart of the Quarter is a good 15 minutes. However, the somewhat unpredictable trolley is right outside the door.

Speaking of location, the surrounding area is fine but by no means the best part of town. I came back to the hotel around 1am one night and there wasn't a security guard anywhere in sight and the front desk is actually on the second floor. So, anyone could walk in off the street and access the guest elevators. Not a major issue to me but in a city noted for it's wild behavior, an added measure of security during the late hours might be a good idea.

Overall my stay was totally fine. However, on my next trip to New Orleans, I would look for something a bit smaller and closer to the Quarter.

It is nice to hear that you enjoyed our Health Club by Hilton. Not many hotels can offer their health conscience guests such a diverse facility. I have shared your comments with our Executive Level, Housekeeping, Guest Services and Security teams and your feedback is most appreciated. We are currently wrapping up our rooms renovation project in our main tower and hopefully you can return soon to enjoy our new rooms with us. Lots of fun times scheduled here in New Orleans for early 2013 with New Year's Eve, Super Bowl and Mardi Gras and our team will be happy to help you plan your next stay.

In town for Saints game. Arrived early and was able to store bags and after brunch was able to check in. Check in was fast and painless( although 2 conventions, a college football game, and pro game was all going on.
Room was very nice and clean. Beds comfortable, had a drink or 2 at the downstairs bar and the bartender was very nice.
The location was good, not too far to walk anywhere . If in New Orleans again will stay here . Thanks

I'll give info in chronological order. When driving up we were confused where to pull up. To the side of the hotel is a narrow street/alleyway were you valet. We used valet end because we had so much stuff to take up to the room. Valet area was hectic, slow, and confusing--but this is a hotel issue. The valet employees were hustling as fast as was safe. Nice lobby and check-in on second floor (up a ver visible escalator) was fast and courteous. We were hosted by Harrah's Casino, but their hotel was full and this is a partner hotel. Room was large, clean, quiet, and had comfortable beds. Casino is just across the street, easy access, well lit, lots of people. Did not eat at Hilton be amuse had comps at casino. Check out was easy. Valet manager, Daniel, met us, pointed out a nail in one tire, filled the tire with air, gave us easy directions to a Firestone that was no more than a mile away if that. He could tell our distress (we had to drive 12 hours) from New Orleans), and gave us his cell phone in case we couldn't make it to tire place or got directions mixed up--wow, what service! Fortunately, it was a slow leak, we got it fixed, and were on our way. But if had not been for Daniel, we would have been on I-10 with a flat in pouring rain. Would stay here again.
