“Very Enjoyable Visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

We recently spent a night at the Royal Sonesta, and we really enjoyed our stay. From the moment we pulled up, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The folks at the front desk, and all of the bellmen were very helpful, and made us feel welcome. When we had questions about the area, they were more than happy to give us the information we needed. Most importantly, the rooms were clean and well maintained, the beds were comfortable, and the pool was in great shape. Here's a quick breakdown:

Pros: Clean rooms, comfortable beds, very pleasant and helpful staff, nice pool area.
Cons: Some very minor things. First, there were cars parked along the entrance tunnel that descends into the parking garage, which made it a bit difficult to maneuver down the entrance. Also, the comforters on the bed are rather thick, which can make the bed a bit too warm (but, this is very common in most hotels these days, and is easily fixed by removing the comforter). Also, I heard a couple of rowdy patrons walking down the hallway after midnight (but, what do you expect - you're staying on Bourbon Street!). However, please note that those Cons are very minor and are greatly outweighed by the Pros of the hotel.

The only thing we did not get to experience during our stay was the food at the restaurants in the hotel. However, I hear that the restaurants are very good.

All in all, I would definitely recommend the Royal Sonesta if you are staying in the French Quarter. We will certainly be back!

Room Tip: In order to avoid any late night noise from Bourbon Street, we chose to stay in a room overlooking t...

Stayed here during Essence Festival. It's been over 20 years since I visited NOLA and wanted the full experience. Boy did I get it staying at this hotel! Driving 6 hours then getting to your hotel at check in and your room isn't ready for almost 3 hours is not the business! We weren't happy, but we posted up at the Royal House Oyster bar and dealt with it. Fortunately, that's the only hiccup we experienced at this hotel. We opted for a "quiet room" meaning a room away from Bourbon street, so in that aspect the room IS quiet. But the walls and ceilings are soooo thin you hear every conversation and every move your neighbor is making. You hear the water running from the room above you, just every little thing you're going to hear it. All in all, this is a nice hotel. Very reflective of the Essence of NOLA, I just can't stay on Bourbon again. It was overwhelming! Too "turnt up" as the kids say, but I'm glad for the experience. Nevertheless, we had an awesome weekend!

Toni, thank you so much for choosing to stay at our hotel and taking the time to share this feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your experience, despite how busy the city was for the special event that weekend. On your next visit, you might consider arriving on a Sunday and staying midweek for a quieter, relaxing experience in the French Quarter.

I was dubious with the location being right on Bourbon street, but it was *perfect!* Very nice property, expert staff, nice rooms, and outstanding restaurants. Bonus? The pool was a perfect place to get away from the crowds and heat every afternoon. Walkable to everywhere and an oasis in the middle of the French quarter action. We had a really enjoyable stay. However, be prepared: the elevators are very, very slow, so take the stairs or just get into the slower, more relaxed flavor of the Big Easy.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a "quiet room" away from the Bourbon Street noise.

This was our first leisure trip to New Orleans. Selecting a hotel in an unknown destination is a gamble. We selected Royal Sonesta based on booking.com and Trip Advisor reviews. The location was perfect and we would stay here again.

Great location to everything. Staff was so nice. The room was a little small for me but overall great!
Hot shower with good water pressure. Clean!!! The bed was very comfortable. That was a must since we stayed a week. The A/C was tough enough to keep me cool after hot walks in the quarter. I will stay there again.

We celebrated my 50th birthday there and I have to say the hotel was the best! There were six of us The location was perfect, we could walk anywhere and the canal street car line was a few blocks away, a great way to see all of NOLA!. I have stayed at other hotels in NOLA and will always return to the Sonesta for sure! The hotel staff were exceptional and the hotel was just a little "piece of heaven" You cannot go wrong with the R club and the pool area was an added bonus! Thank you to the hotel staff again for a great birthday!! I am planning another trip soon!

In Nola for business and was very surprised that this was a selection under corporate travel board French quarter walking distance to everything and yet easy access to Highway 10 for client meetings. The staff here is very friendly and welcoming and after seeing you once greets you by name...only thing they could improve is having ready access to coffee you have to go downstairs and buy it in the little café :( The bellman the valets the door greeter and the front desk as well as housekeeping have all been very gracious one of the wonderful things about coming to New Orleans is the culture of service looking forward to using this hotel is my homebase for repeat business trips
