Staying at the Royal Sonesta during Chistmas is a Royal treat. The Hotel is decorated beautifully. The moment we stepped into the Hotel it was like a Christmas Wonderland. The Staff made the visit even more enjoyable with their Holiday Cheer.Making reservations at the Royal Sonesta was made easy with the professional help of Cindy Zetina. We have stayed with other Hotels in the French Quarter but this is our favorite. We will go back!!!!

Room Tip: Love the Balcony rooms

My husband and I recently celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the Royal Sonesta. Although this was our 1st time to stay here, we would definitely stay again when we come back to New Orleans. Our room was upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the courtyard and was very nice and clean-views from balcony were gorgeous. We went to the jazz club in the lobby and ate at the Desiree restaurant for breakfast on our last day-both excellent! Room service was also very good. Only downside was the parking garage when we were checking out-the staff seemed very organized, and unable to retrieve our luggage from the bellman to bring to the garage. It took a long time-and I had to go myself to the bellman and request our luggage to be brought down to where our car was. All in all a great experience, slightly spoiled by the parking incident.

Room Tip: Rooms facing couryard/pool area are quieter and have a beautiful view of the pool.

Richard, first and foremost, congratulations on your 35th wedding anniversary! And we are honored that you chose to celebrate it at the Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans. We appreciate your taking the time to share this feedback on your experiences at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse and Desire Bistro & Oyster Bar. We are very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced waiting for your luggage in the parking garage, and we’re reviewing this process with management to avoid future delays. We look forward to hopefully seeing you again soon!

We decided to spend Christmas in New Orleans pretty much at the last minute. We lucked out with this hotel find. A balcony is important for us, so when this place not only had balcony, but a reasonable price over Christmas we jumped on it. We arrived just after mid-night on Christmas morning and the front desk person was very friendly. Which is nice when you are dead tired and just want to go to your room. We ended up with a side street view, which can be a bit noisy with Bourbon Street, but with the door shut to the balcony it wasn’t terribly loud. Although we weren’t there over a weekend so that might change a bit. We ate in the Desire restaurant two nights, mostly because of the oyster bar. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced and service friendly. You can walk the entire French Quarter and it’s only a couple of blocks to Canal Street. Room was clean, and we ended up using the laundry service. Although they collected the laundry on Christmas day, I had no intention of it coming back that day, so when I received a call apologizing that it wouldn’t come back until the next day I thought that was a nice touch. We were treated with great customer service. The only thing that I really didn’t like was there was no coffee maker in the room. It would have been nice to make your own instead of waiting 20 minutes for room service or having to get dressed and go down to the coffee shop in the lobby. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I get back to New Orleans.

Room Tip: If you want a really quiet I would suggest the courtyard side or higher floor.

We are honored that you chose to celebrate Christmas in New Orleans at the Royal Sonesta Hotel! It sounds like you had a very enjoyable stay with us and a great dining experience at Desire Oyster Bar. Thank you for your feedback on our efficient and hospitable service team and the lack of an in-room coffee maker. As we are reviewing our policy on in-room coffee, this feedback is very important to us. We appreciate your compliments and look forward to seeing you again!

We spent Christmas in the Big Easy. Four generations met there in the Royal Sonesta to celebrate and it was great! Due to loss in our family, we felt we needed a change of scenery this Christmas. The Royal Sonesta was reasonably priced through Bookit.com. The rooms were not adjoining, but had a common balcony over the pool and courtyard. The pool was under construction, but December is a great time for that. A couple of people in our group would have liked to have known that, but it was OK. One thing that keeps me from giving it a better review was that the balcony door had a face plate on the lock that kept it from securing properly. They did come right up and fix it even if it was Christmas Eve. There is a good place that is not too expensive in the hotel. While it was raining we went to Cafe Desire there in the Royal Sonesta. They had full maid service during the Holidays. We slept well on their beds. It was cozy enough for it to seem like holidays.

Room Tip: If you want quiet for sleep, a room with the balcony facing to courtyard or pool is great! If you c...

Aurablues, we are honored that you choose the Royal Sonesta Hotel for your huge family gathering this past Christmas. Thank you for the feedback on your quiet pool patio rooms, meal at Desire Bistro & Oyster Bar, and our efficient service during your holiday stay. While this seems to be an untraditional Christmas for your family, we hope that you remember us for your future travels to New Orleans.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four night Thanksgiving holiday stay at the Royal Sonesta. We had a beautiful room on the 7th floor facing the courtyard. We enjoyed the Club room offering daily breakfast and drinks and snacks in the evening. The food at the Bistro was delicious. The highlight for us was the Mayfield Jazz bar. Truly great jazz. The location of the hotel was superb. We were in walking distance of almost everything. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in New Orleans. All of the staff were remarkably helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and kind. Overall great experience!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 7th floor facing the courtyard and away from the Club room and the elevators. Alth...

We stayed here for 2 nights - it was going to be 3 but we reduced our stay for reasons unconnected with the hotel. While we had to wait several hours to get our reserved room - we arrived around 2.125 and finally got in about 2 hrs later - the hotel was clearly busy and well patronised with functions and various guests. The room was good but we did miss no coffee maker and the room safe was hard to access being situated right dwon on the floor in as dark unlit closet the doors of which continually expressed an urge to close while you were in there!

Room Tip: maybe get a club room if you want coffee in yr room

Denis, we are very disappointed to read of the difficulties you encountered with the long check-in, dark safe, and lack of in-room coffee maker. Please know that your concerns are important to us and they are being addressed. We are very sorry for the lack of an in-room coffee maker in our guest rooms, however please note that in addition to coffee through room service, our PJ’s Coffee Café on the lobby level is open 6 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. We are reviewing our policy on in-room coffee so we appreciate the feedback. On your future travels, we hope you will consider one of our Sonesta Collection hotels located throughout the United States.

The place to stay on Bourbon Street, all the staff and accomodations were excellent. The Club level was a great addition to our stay. We enjoyed the guests that were there and the Staff took good care of us for breakfast and eavning coctails. Only dissappointment was that we didn't stay long enough to see everything and eat at all the restaurants there. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to be pampered and enjoy a stay in NOLA to stay here.

Room Tip: If you can book on the Club level, the rooms are quiet, large and the ammenities are the best.
