Hotel offers convenience of a location right at Bourbon Street. Only item to consider is the noise during the night if you are on a business trip. I used my noise cancelling headphones to get some sleep. Otherwise fun place to stay.

Room Tip: Location for noise is a consideration.

Sessi101, thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. We are sorry that your accommodations were not as quiet as they should have been on your business trip. Please know that the 7th floor R Club rooms are the most tranquil as well as those located on the interior overlooking our pool or courtyard. We hope you stay Sonesta on your future travels!

Lot's of construction on Bourbon Street, so your transportation may not be able to drop you off in front of the hotel, so shlepping lots of suitcases could be very inconvenient. The lobby was lovely and bright. The staff at front desk and bellmen were not as wonderful as other's we have experienced. But the doorman was incredibly friendly and charming. We chose a room that was inside the courtyard instead of an outer room that would make for sleepless nights with the revelry on Bourbon Street. The room was clean. The room was pretty nondescript, nothing special, but very nice. The closet is large. The bathroom had a full sink counertop as well as drawers and shelves making it convenient to keep toiletries out of the way. There is a coffee shop with snacks and baked goods. There is a restaurant that we did not try and a fabulous night club. Though, they probably should have designed it without obstructing views. The location is so convenient in the French Quarter. Fabulous restaurants on all sides just minutes in walking distance. Cabs are easy to get from the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and I had a wonderful week long stay at the Royal Sonesta. People should be aware that this is directly on Bourbon Street. The hotel is elegant but Bourbpn Street is crazy. There is a stip joint across the street and Bourbon Street is wild at night.

Room Tip: We requested a courtyard room so we could have some peace and quiet. Friends wanted the "experi...

We were at the Royal Sonesta Hotel for a convention last week and everything about our experience was Top Notch. The staff were especially courteous and helpful. You could tell they enjoyed their jobs and wanted to make you feel welcome. The location is great - right on Bourbon Street, so you can walk to most places. Fortunately we had an interior room, because we do like to get some sleep at night. We were also on the Concierge Floor and the service there was excellent. Nice staff there and good food, although our room was no larger than others and we gave up the balcony. Everything was tastefully elegant, but not over-done. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the French Quarter.

Room Tip: Interior rooms are quiet. I was told by others that if you are in a room that look out over Bourbon...

We've stayed at the Royal Sonesta twice before, and at many other hotels in the quarter. We upgraded to a Club level room at check-in because our first room overlooked Bourbon Street, too noisy for us middle aged folk. I really didn't care so much about the club level amenities when I booked it, just wanted a quieter room. Well, it was wonderful to get coffee and take it back to my room without having to get showered and dressed and greet the real world. Happy hour in the afternoon was great, too. The amenities in the room were also really nice. But far and away the best part of our experience was the wonderful service given by Cheri. She was so unbelievably warm and welcoming, not just to us, but to all of the guests. It was just great to see her smiling face each day! She truly has a gift, and I hope that this message is relayed to management. Because of Cheri first and foremost, and the convenience of the Club level room, I will not stay anywhere but the Royal Sonesta. We look forward to returning next year and hope to see you Cheri!!!! Cheers from Vermont!!!!!

Room Tip: Club level rooms are really wonderfully quiet and beautifully appointed.

We had our wedding reception at the Royal Sonesta and it was Fabulous! The staff, the food, the location, the atmosphere, all was just perfect. We live in Maryland and have stayed at the Royal Sonesta many times that is why we chose it for our wedding day. We plan on spending many anniversaries there too. They really do treat you like royalty!

Room Tip: If you want the excitement of Bourbon Str you must stay in a balcony suite. If you want rest and qui...

Our first introduction to the Royal Sonesta-New Orleans was via our company and client meetings that were headquartered there (Chilton Corp/Credit Bureau Services). The site has housed the Regal Brewery (and many other businesses) since its 1721 origins.
From the sharply uniformed doormen out front, the attentive staff, the very accommodating management team... the feel of the place is like a step back in time.
And don't miss Irvin Mayfield's music in their Jazz Playhouse lounge... true N'awlins!

Room Tip: When you make reservations, ask for a courtyard/swimming pool suite, or one of the balcony rooms ove...
