We didn't know anything about this hotel, but wanted something in a good location that felt like New Orleans. Great location in the French Quarter, but still didn't hear any noise. The complimentary breakfast was more than adequate and a real cost saver. Note, there is no restaurant and no room service. The staff was very friendly. And the courtyard in the middle was a lovely oasis to rest in for a few moments after walking all day. The fruit-flavored water urn didn't seem like much, but was a very comfortable bonus. This is an old hotel, so don't expect big rooms or bathrooms (the shower was huge, but no bathtub) but if you prefer charm over chain-style benefits, this is an excellent choice.

We stayed here the night after our cruise. The taxi fare port to hotel was $6 plus tip and takes 10 minutes. The taxi fare hotel to airport is $33 and takes 30 minutes. This hotel has everything going for it.
All the staff was courteous and helpful.
The room was aweome and the bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept in.
The free hot breakfast is very good and you can't beat the location being 1/2 block from bourbon street. Not to close (away from noise) but only a minute walk.
Actually we are staying here again pre-cruise this Sept.
I strongly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is nice, but it isn't as fantastic as some of these reviews suggest. The best part is the location, and it's clean and affordable. The breakfast is included, but bland (hey, saves a meal expense and food is expensive in the French Quarter). Staff is nice. Negatives: the bed was uncomfortable and the walkway is in front of the room, so you can't open the window blinds unless you want walkers looking back at you. Overall, I recommend, but it wasn't the life changing experience some of these reviews suggest :).

Room Tip: Beware that regular rooms don't have views other than the walkway, so we kept the blinds closed...

I go to New Orleans a lot and I always stay at another French Quarter hotel but when that was booked solid I decided to try the Hotel Mazarin on the tip of a friend. It is my new go-to place in the French Quarter. I was delighted with this hotel in every way. It does not front Bourbon Street so you don't get the noise but it is only a half block away if that is your thing. The people are very friendly. The rooms are gorgeous, like secret hideaways that you want to stay in for longer than the length of your trip and they are QUIET. The breakfast which is included is very good and you can dine indoors or in a very pretty courtyard if you like. Patrick's Bar Vin which is off the courtyard is one of the gems of the French Quarter, an intimate and warm little bar with a great selection of potables. A couple of the "cozy" rooms fronting the second, interior, courtyard require you to briefly walk uncovered to a little stairway which could be a slight problem if it is raining but the room and the courtyard were so nice I didnt really care about that. In short, I am a very experienced traveller and I will make this hotel my first choice for my next trip.

We stayed four nights in between Jazz Fest weekends. You can't beat the location, 1/2 block from the seedy Bourbon Street, but right near the lovely end of Royal and Conti. Beautiful rooms with a luxurious bed, well appointed rooms.

The full buffet breakfast was excellent. Eggs, bacon, and all the rest with a staff that is second to none setting up the area and attending to your needs. Please tip them a buck or two each morning. Too many people with plenty of income left without showing appreciation for a top flight crew.

The bathrooms were great and all around this hotel is clear winner. Book without hesitancy.

You are dead center but away from the chaos of Bourbon. The only minor issues are that you will hear occasional hoopla from Bourbon or some very loud birds at 4:15 am. Simple enough, lay one of the lush pillows on your head to block it out completely.

We cannot recommend this hotel more. Go, go , go.

Room Tip: Get a room in the courtyard to avoid any noise from Iberville Street.

Hotel Mazarin really is the diamond of the French Quarter. I loved the black marble floors in my room and the room itself was immaculate! The lovely courtyard is especially nice in the evening with a glass of wine from Patrick's Vin Bar. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We had a big group with a meeting room and the staff at the Mazarin was on top of it all. Our lunch was delicious, wine and cheese at 4 pm was terrific. Everything was done beautifully and with a smile. Can't praise them high enough.

Now, the Hotel is just a block over from Bourbon Street. It can get noisy. If, like me, you are a light sleeper, ask for a quiet room off the street. I didn't hear a thing and I slept like a baby.

I will definitely choose Hotel Mazarin for my New Orleans trips from now on!

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the street if you want a quiet room. Or, if you want to enjoy the nightlife of N...
