Hotel Mazarin
Excellent Staff and Location
March 03, 2013

We were so glad to have found a “special rate” at Hotel Mazarin. It is in the perfect location for walking around the French Quarter.
The hotel is very well maintained which shows how hard the staff works (we witnessed this) at keeping everything clean and tidy.
EVERY staff member we encountered were very friendly and welcoming and I truly felt like they wanted me to be happy to be there.
The room was very clean. We had a mini King room on the second floor overlooking the back courtyard with a comfortable bed and down comforter; a mini fridge; a safe, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, bathrobes, magnifying mirror, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower gel. I loved the towels. We did have to go up one flight of stairs. We didn’t have any noise issues.
The bedside table clock had a charger in it—I think it was USB but not totally sure. Free internet and we found 3 available outlets to use for charging our various electronics.
The complimentary hot buffet breakfast was wonderful—hot crispy bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, grits, fresh fruit in a cup, two types of yogurt, single pieces of fruit, coffee, real cream; and more.
Valet Parking was $38, incl. tax. Trying to find parking in the French Quarter is a challenge so just resign yourself to spending the parking fee for the convenience. It only took about 5 minutes to get the car once we asked for it.
I would stay here again.

First let me say, New Orleans isn't all that clean, so I probably shouldn't expect that much from a hotel there; especially one that was still somewhat under construction during our stay. I would consider staying again since the renovations have been completed, but there are certainly less expensive places to stay in the city.
The location, however, was amazing! Situated in the heart of the French quarter, between Bourbon St. and Royal St. In the morning, we left the hotel and turned right towards Royal for street performers, shops, art dealers, etc. At night, we left the hotel and turned left for everything you've already heard about Bourbon st. and the New Orleans night life.

Room Tip: Being so close to Bourbon street, it is quite noisy until about 2 or 3am.

For lots of local flavor, with a central French quarter location - all the convenience yet none of the noise! - we were extremely pleased with Hotel Mazarin. Beautiful courtyards, well-lit and spacious room, helpful and very friendly staff. We spent four nights here, and enjoyed it very much. The breakfast was ample and delicious, with an abundance of staff to keep things fresh and tidy.

We feel lucky to have chosen Hotel Mazarin for our New Orleans getaway. A very well run hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room off the rear courtyard; very quiet and relatively private, though all the rooms seemed to have good soundproofing.

The staff here is great! They are really helpful and willing to assist at any cost. Larry and Allison are my two favorite employees at the front desk. The night crew is also very friendly and willing to give pointers on places to eat and party. Jason, the night security guy is really nice too!

We stayed 3 days in the Supreme King room on the 2nd floor and loved it. The room overlooked the courtyard and was quite large. The vanity area had two pedastal sinks and the shower area was also large. The decor was great. It had black tiles throughout on the floor and up the shower and vanity walls. The bed was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast offered everything you'd want such as bacon, sausage, eggs, fresh fruit cups and an assortment of cereals, breads, and beverages. They do have a tarp over the roof area when rain is in the forecast and it will block the views of floors 3-5. I read a couple reviews about it being noisy. While in the room, we couldn't hear anything from the streets but you could hear people in the courtyard. The noise didn't bother us but if you're into taking naps in the evening, it might be an issue if there is a wedding or other event going on. Everything was quiet at night time. I didn't see any young children which also helped keep the noise down. The location was excellent and having free wifi was a definite plus. We will be staying there on our next trip to New Orleans.

Room Tip: There are rooms off the courtyard which might be a bit more quiet and they had cute sitting areas in front of them as well. I prefer the courtyard view but they put a tarp above the courtyard if rain is coming and it blocks the view from floors 3-5.
