“never stay there.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

Stayed in the hotel for one night and it was the worst experience. The room had no window; the carpet had holes it it and a few stains. There was almost no light in the room because two light bulbs were out. The same situation with the bathroom, two of the lights didn't work. The shower Curtain was covered with mildew and looked like it has been used for a few years. TV looked prehistorical as well. Sheets were wrinkled and had HAIR on them. My husband and I called downstairs and asked the front desk clerk to send a housekeeper to change sheets. The clerk stated that all of the housekeepers left and that he would bring the sheets when he is done checking somebody in. After about 15 min of waiting I called the front desk again and requested clean sheets. In a few minutes the clerk brought the sheets and didn't even apologize for the sheets being dirty. When my husband tried to put " clean" sheets on bed, we noticed that they were completely wet. I called the front desk back and requested clean and dry sheets. After we finely went to bed, we received a call from downstairs again. We answered the phone, but nobody spoke. In about an hour we received a new call from downstairs, and the from guy stated that he accidentally dialed out room number. Needless to say,we didn't get any sleep that night. Never again I will stay there and wouldn't recommend anybody to go near it.

Remedy for hurricane fever..the Pelham! My girlfriend and I were welcomed the moment we walked into the cozy lobby..a cadre of fellow storm troopers, the staff, owner and guests chillin throughout the storm..it was grand...we are stayin an extra night...fortunately found bliss for Hurricane Isaac..thankyou
Okay for the jist of this review
Comfortable room, plenty of hot water for a bath, great large windows, comfortable beds. And, everyone involved with the hotel were really pleasant, friendly people...I really, really enjoyed our stay

The Pelham is an older hotel with a Victorian style feel to it. It is just a few blocks from The French Quarter. Walking distance actually. Although we were there during a very busy time in New Orleans, the staff never seemed overwhelmed and were very kind. Our first room we were given was on the first floor and had no window. That was a little discouraging ( and weird... a hotel room without a window!), but the next day we asked for a room with a window and we got one on the 3rd floor. Some of the plugs didn't work and I couldn't use the hairdryer in the 2nd room. Kind of a bummer if you didn't bring one. The Ruby Slipper has a great breakfast I was told by my son and daughter in law. And there is a huge store on the corner about a block away for anything you have forgotten. I would use this hotel again for short stays

Staff are friendly and helpful - location is safe and centrally located from either direction (French Quarter, Waterfront, Arts district, etc.)
The elevator smells musty but the room was ok. The coverlets were yucky looking (needed bleaching) so I removed asap each day. I needed earplugs thanks to couple next door (noisy @ 4 am). Plenty of towels and hot water. Room was tidied up each day. My view was the backside of the hotel across the street with mega street light that made it seem like daytime -the well-backed curtains were very effective at blocking all light (thank goodness). If you need a decent enough place with good location on a budget then this is the place. The attached restaurant, "Ruby Slipper" is terrific! Really! Very good value, quick and professional service and creative presentation! Locals suggested "Mothers" but forget it..for the same pricing we definitely preferred Ruby Slipper (better all around).

This was a very nice, older hotel walking distance to everything. Just two blocks from the French Quater, and walking distance to the river walk, casinos, and high end shopping. The room was bigger than I thought it would be, and quiet as well. The bathroom had a large tub a major +++ for me. The ruby slipper restaurant was just next door, great food and service. I found most hotels in the area all have the same price range of 65-80 dollars per night, with that in mind, I don't remember seeing parking available, but you do get free wifi and phone calls. Not a whole lot of bells and whistles, but a really good stay.

Stayed the Pelham in July and will be letting all my friends know all about it.. Staff were friendly, loved the decor.. I had never been to America before and all of the staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough for me. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and suprisingly quiet. Had a great week there. We will be back
