“Difficult hotel to beat in New Orleans”
Reviewed June 13, 2009

Grand hotel with probably the best position for the French Quarter. Rooms comfortable and clean with choose-your-own combination safes. Breakfast fairly expensive but very very good. Luxurious roof-top pool.

Staff were extremely helpful when we had trouble (with airline) with on-line check-in for return flight.

Would (and in fact will) definitely return.

When we go away, the hotel is mainly for sleeping, showering, a meal or two, and a drink or two. The Monteleone has a beautiful lobby, charming carousel bar (it turns) and cafe and a restaurant. Our room was not large, but it was absolutely fine. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. We really didn't stay too long in the room unless we were turning in for the night. Yes, like many hotels, there is a stocked refridgerator in the room. We didn't use it ~ we didn't get charged. The location is perfect. Walking distance to EVERYWHERE you need to go. One block from Bourbon St. and a few blocks from the family friendly Decatur St. I loved the charm of the older hotel. But don't get me wrong, it was very up to date in all it's amenities.
If I get back to NOLA I would stay at the Monteleone again.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights with two other couples and had a wonderful stay. We think the Monteleone is a great hotel in a terrific location and operated by staff that really know how to "run" a first class hotel - from the front doorman to the registration desk to the bar and dinning room waitstaff, everyone was very professional, personable and experienced. We stayed in one of the king preferred rooms on the 15th floor that was very well appointed and in excellent condition. We did not face the street so our room was very quiet (one couple's room was on the street side and noisy). Great location to walk to many downtown sites or to catch one of the City's trolly cars. We would stay at the Monteleone again and recommend it to our friends.

After decided on Hotel Monteleone, we figured that for $200/night + $30 parking/day it would be a lovely place to stay. When we got to our room, we noticed it was small with a horrible view of another wall. The pool area was suppose to be relaxing and smoke free, but loud, obnoxious smokers were all around us. After returning home, I noticed I had left my cosmetics in the bedside drawer. I called house-keeping and was told it could not be found. I asked if anyone had stayed in the room since and no one had. I called again and asked for a manager and was told they had located the missing items (they were placed under the wrong room number). They offered to send it back via UPS Ground (which I later found out was a charge of almost $20) and more than half of the items were missing! I will never return here and would advise the same to anyone. Even though it was in a good location, It was not worth the money. Stay somewhere more modern where hopefully the staff aren't theives!

I stayed at this hotel with three of my closest girlfriends on Memorial Day weekend. I booked this hotel because of the reviews and I thought I would be very satisfied, but not so much. Check in was from 3-5pm. Of course, our room wasn't ready until 4:55pm. We had to hang out in the pool area for an hour and a half - it was very crowded and there really wasn't anywhere to go with our luggage. When we finally got to our room, the carpet was wet. They hotel staff said that they clean it every couple of stays...but, it seems like it could've waiting since it was a big weekend. Nobody wants wet sock :-(

Also, the refrigerator is not a courtesy appliance. It comes fully stocked, but if you take an item out, they charge it to your bill.

Our room was $200, so next time, we will probably stay somewhere else.
Sorry Hotel Monteleone - I was hoping for something better.

The Monteleone Hotel is filled with a rich history of celebrated authors such as Truman Capote staying here. I love how cloase it is to all locations in the French quarter without the noise that can come with staying on Bourban Street. Can't wait to get back agan.

My wife and I really liked staying at this hotel; grand lobby, great bar and the hotel staff really appreciated our business! We kept saying how nice everyone was and how the staff went out of their way to please us. The location was great, in the heart of the French Quarter without the noise. Clean, safe, a good value for the money and only one block away from the best oysters in the world-Acme Oyster House. The best surprise was the roof top pool. After long days of walking, eating and shopping, it was great to escape to the roof top and have a pool drink. All that being said, its important to know that you need to be 'city' smart while walking around the city. Stick together and don't wander off...
