“Beautiful hotel in the heart of the French Quarter!!”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

Just came back from a girl's weekend trip to New Orleans and we stayed at the Hotel Monteleone! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great location and wonderful accommodations! The service was top-notch from the front desk to the restaurants. And do not miss the Carousel Bar whether you are a hotel guest or not! Some of the best drinks I had on my trip! Just be sure to grab a seat early as they fill up fast..then just enjoy the ride!!

Room Tip: Higher floors offer better views

Keisha in the reservations dept. just helped me in a big way. Having made a booking for my Mom's birthday, I asked her for ideas to make my mother's first impression of the hotel room all the more special. She recommended I write a card and send it ahead of my mother's arrival, so that she will see the card in my handwriting (and some cake!) when she enters the room. I would never have thought of such a thing, so I am quite grateful to Keisha for her help in this matter. I would add that I've called the the Hotel Monteleone reservation desk on multiple occasions, and they have been friendly and professional every single time. Thank you! Jon

This is an elegant hotel with a down-home feel! Every staff member I ran across was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful! From Stefanie in the restaurant, to Anita the concierge, to Errin in Human Resources, if you had a need or a question, they made sure your need was met and your question was answered--you weren't pushed off to someone else.

I would have given it a 5 had the room for our large meetings not had pillars blocking the view from many places. Other than that, wonderful stay!

I was in town with a friend on a business/pleasure trip and we had heard so many good things about this hotel. We arrived very late on a Friday and were checked immediately with Johnna giving us a welcome gift and my travel companion a package that was waiting at the hotel. The process was extremely smooth despite the hectic nature of the lobby on a busy Friday night.

The rooms are small, but the hotel is from a different era. Don't expect much more than a bed, a desk close to the bed and a TV in the room. If you prefer larger rooms, you may want to shop around. With that said, the room was very nice. The bathrooms had marble on the floor and sink and the shower (while sunken much below the bathroom floor) was satisfactory.

The only real complaints I have are less serious but significant enough to mention. First, the general public has unfettered access to the elevators at all hours of the night. You don't have to show a key card or anything to enter the hotel. If you do not call down to get your car from the valet on busier days, you'll wait for 20-30 minutes easily. That is something to be cognizant of and a mistake that we made just once.

Recently stayed at Hotel Monteleone. The room (& bathroom) were small for 3 people, but nicely appointed. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Although we were in the French Quarter, the room was nice & quiet. There was a singer across the street, but he was not obnoxiously loud nor did he sing late into the night. The hotel had a lot of people staying there, but we were never disturbed by others. The staff was very friendly & helpful. I would definitely stay here the next time I visit NOLA.

Room Tip: I enjoyed watching Royal Street from my room. We watched a wedding party parade through the streets...

My overall opinion of this hotel is that is is very nice. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The location is great. The only negative is that the rooms are quite small. I had a double double room and there wasn't much room for our suitcases or anything else. However, the amount of time spent in the room really doesn't require a lot of space.

Thank you for taking the time to comment regarding your recent visit to New Orleans and Hotel Monteleone.

We are truly sorry that you were not satisfied with the quality of your stay and accommodations. The Monteleone is a historic property, and with that comes a unique floor plan with varying room sizes. We have tried our best to preserve the history of the building while still providing guests with a comfortable space to stay while visiting New Orleans. Again, we apologize that you did not find this satisfactory but we do ask you to consider the nature of New Orleans’ old buildings and the measures taken to modernize them while preserving their integrity.

We appreciate your feedback and we hope to see you back in NOLA soon!

This hotel is considered a grand old hotel in the French Quarter. It is older high end, and some areas could use a little renovation but it has a great deal of charm. The rooms are smallish but really, who cares when you're in such a great city. The location of the hotel on Royal is ideal. The front desk staff was the friendliest I've ever encountered. They were warm and genuine and funny. The Carousel bar should not be missed. Order a Pimm's Cup--you won't regret it! Highly recommend the Monteleone.
