“Has gone down hill”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Upon check I was told to come back at 3pm since I arrived early. At 3pm I was told that my room wasn't ready and that check is was from 3-5. I was annoyed and asked for a manager. She was very nice and found me another room that was ready. However, this room with 2 double beds was teeny. At that point I didn't want to complain.

We requested a later check out and this was flat out refused. We mentioned our troubles checking in but were still refused.

The carousel bar never has seats because people just sit there all day even if they aren't drinking (very annoying). When you try to get a drink you have to fight for bartenders attention if there is even more than 1 working.

The gift shop ran out of water when we tried to purchase some.

So many little annoyances. Won't be going back!

Our 2nd stay at Hotel Monteleone...nicer room, preferred king, very small but tolerable bathroom.
Stayed on 12th floor..still some noise but not bad. Very comfortable hotel, easy to get every where, nice staff.

Joined I prefer club which gets you free Internet service in room and a complimentary drink...and while this is not a big deal, I had to ask for these perks, as they were not given.

Ate breakfast at hotel once, very good. Drinks a few nights at the carousel bar...fun festive atmosphere ..

Can't go wrong staying here.

Attended a business meeting here, meeting up with colleagues from around the country. Some of us stayed an extra day to explore city. It was easy to see everything we wanted staying at this French Quarter hotel. It is beautiful, with comfortable rooms (comfy beds, small but pretty and functional washroom, outlet on lamp to charge laptop/cellphone, excellent housekeeping) and completely neutral aroma. I get headaches from other hotels that spray febreze or other fragrance in between guests. The rooftop pool had nice breezes and offered plenty of seating and view of city. Warm enough up there for March weather. Walking distance to everything!

Room Tip: Rooms typically smaller given historic hotel, just as FYI. There was some music heard from street a...

In the fall we attended a wedding in NOLA and this hotel was the perfect place to be wedding central. We went to many venues for the wedding and always ended up in the hotel having a wonderful time. This hotel is in the middle of everything that is wonderful about NEW ORLEANS.
The hotel has been redone and the bar is better than ever. This hotel, The Monteleone, is like coming home when you are having so much fun you think it can't get better then you are walking through the door and the party continues. Loved every minute we were there. Great memories!

Room Tip: Rooms are small but comfortable but no worries!

We stayed here with 2 kids; 7 and 9, for one night. We arrived a bit too late in the evening to enjoy any restaurants in the city but the hotel restaurant was open. The wait staff was top shelf and our food was very good; my son had corndog bites and my daughter had fried shrimp (both kids meals). We started out with bread and 3 butters - all very good. I had gumbo and my wife and I split an etoufee appitizer. We then split the grouper entree which was very tasty.

As for the hotel accomodations; the rooms were very nice, large and surprisingly quiet though we were right next to the Quarter. The rooms were very spacious with nice bathrooms.

My only criticism is that the hotel staff were not all that friendly but we got over that and enjoyed the location and the Quarter.

Room Tip: We paid a little extra ($20-25) to have a window view. Our view was nothing special in fact it was...

Love the options of rotating bar, jazz ensemble or a traditional hang area to view the streets of New Orleans. Beautiful traditional New Orleans. Worth the trip. Near all the action if you care to venture out.

Room Tip: Away from elevators and higher floors as not to hear street noise although not too bad.

The Hotel Monteleone is beautiful and the location is perfect. The staff at check in was discourteous and set the tone for treatment during our four night stay. Having stayed in many of the landmark New Orleans hotels, we were excited to be at the Hotel Monteleone. We were left feeling unwelcome. We felt like we were a burden when asking any questions of the staff. The only time a door was held open by the doorman was on the last morning - any other time the sloppily dressed doorman could be found across the street or chatting with friends. While waiting for the elevator one morning, the doors opened and a housekeeper barged out talking on her cell phone. She turned suddenly and got back on the elevator, closing the doors behind her. The front desk supervisor charged by us when we were waiting for our car in the garage - almost knocking into me - and never apologized or acknowledged his bad behavior. Instead, he thanked the attendant for getting his car .... noticeably without the European accent he displayed at the front counter! Ordering room service - expect a sigh on the other end of the phone. Minibar - no such thing. And if you ask about it - they will answer with a snarl of the lip. Again, a beautiful hotel and a great location. The staff is rude and uncaring.
