“The Best Wedding Hotel in NOLA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

In the fall we attended a wedding in NOLA and this hotel was the perfect place to be wedding central. We went to many venues for the wedding and always ended up in the hotel having a wonderful time. This hotel is in the middle of everything that is wonderful about NEW ORLEANS.
The hotel has been redone and the bar is better than ever. This hotel, The Monteleone, is like coming home when you are having so much fun you think it can't get better then you are walking through the door and the party continues. Loved every minute we were there. Great memories!

Room Tip: Rooms are small but comfortable but no worries!

We stayed here with 2 kids; 7 and 9, for one night. We arrived a bit too late in the evening to enjoy any restaurants in the city but the hotel restaurant was open. The wait staff was top shelf and our food was very good; my son had corndog bites and my daughter had fried shrimp (both kids meals). We started out with bread and 3 butters - all very good. I had gumbo and my wife and I split an etoufee appitizer. We then split the grouper entree which was very tasty.

As for the hotel accomodations; the rooms were very nice, large and surprisingly quiet though we were right next to the Quarter. The rooms were very spacious with nice bathrooms.

My only criticism is that the hotel staff were not all that friendly but we got over that and enjoyed the location and the Quarter.

Room Tip: We paid a little extra ($20-25) to have a window view. Our view was nothing special in fact it was...

Love the options of rotating bar, jazz ensemble or a traditional hang area to view the streets of New Orleans. Beautiful traditional New Orleans. Worth the trip. Near all the action if you care to venture out.

Room Tip: Away from elevators and higher floors as not to hear street noise although not too bad.

The Hotel Monteleone is beautiful and the location is perfect. The staff at check in was discourteous and set the tone for treatment during our four night stay. Having stayed in many of the landmark New Orleans hotels, we were excited to be at the Hotel Monteleone. We were left feeling unwelcome. We felt like we were a burden when asking any questions of the staff. The only time a door was held open by the doorman was on the last morning - any other time the sloppily dressed doorman could be found across the street or chatting with friends. While waiting for the elevator one morning, the doors opened and a housekeeper barged out talking on her cell phone. She turned suddenly and got back on the elevator, closing the doors behind her. The front desk supervisor charged by us when we were waiting for our car in the garage - almost knocking into me - and never apologized or acknowledged his bad behavior. Instead, he thanked the attendant for getting his car .... noticeably without the European accent he displayed at the front counter! Ordering room service - expect a sigh on the other end of the phone. Minibar - no such thing. And if you ask about it - they will answer with a snarl of the lip. Again, a beautiful hotel and a great location. The staff is rude and uncaring.

Stayed 10 nights during Mardis Gras and Valentines Day, what excitement in the heart of the festivities. Asked for a high floor room with river view, as reccommended by previous reviewers, to limit street noise, far away from elevators; it was perfect. We paid a little more for a larger room (Royal Salon) king bed and gorgeous bathroom.
Because it was Mardis Gras week, the carousel bar was packed every day/night, but the adjoining extra bar and lounge always had room for us. The Criollo Restaurant was better than we expected, the breakfast buffet and our Valentine dinner rates as good as the top meals we had at the best New Orleans restaurants.
R'evolution, GW Fins, and Bayona are more of our favourites and very close to the hotel.
Another thing I also find very helpfull from reviews is the where the convience stores and pharmacys are, right next door toward Canal St.

Room Tip: High floor with river view, away from elevators

I have stayed at many hotels in the French Quarter and this is my favourite. The rooms are not big but are well appointed. The hotel itself has a great New Orleanian atmosphere about it and is in a good location on Royal. The Carousel bar that revolves is pure genius and is somewhere you can get chatting to lots of different, interesting people. My only problem has been the length of wait to get my car back from valet but it does not spoil it. I would recommend staying here.

We visited the Hotel Monteleone during Spring Break. This was our second time to stay there because we enjoyed our first stay so much. The room was clean and cozy. We stayed on the 15th floor, so we did not hear any street noise. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The concierge helped me choose a tour company because we wanted to go see the Garden District. She told us how to catch the trolley to where we'd need to go. She also went above and beyond by recommending restaurants in that area that accomodate our teenagers in the event that they got hungry after the tour. We were very pleased with her recommendations. The door man and bell hops were very friendly and helpful as well. They joked with our teenagers and always welcomed us back to the hotel when we arrived from our outings. The huge draw for my daughter was the rooftop, heated pool. It was freezing out while we were there, but she had a wonderful time swimming in the heated water. I cannot comment on the food since we did not eat there. Just a few store fronts away is a place called Cafe Beignet and it has great breakfast food. We always grab breakfast there and enjoy dinner at other wonderful restaurants that New Orleans has to offer.
Another plus to the Monteleone is that it is within walking distance to Cafe Du Monde, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and many other things to visit while in the French Quarter. The only downside was that we decided to extend our stay by one day, and the hotel was booked solid. We ended up moving to another well-known hotel. It did not compare to the charm of the Monteleone. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to NOLA.

Room Tip: We did not hear any room noise, but you could request a room on a higher floor just to be sure. Als...
