We just came back from a trip down to New Orleans and The Sheraton on Canal was centrally located to all the main attractions and means of transportation. They have a great valet area that will help you hail a cab or they are right across the street or a block away from the various street car stops. Everything was in walking distance to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and always accommodating. Most importantly, the rooms were clean. If we were to visit New Orleans again, we would definitely stay here. Oh - for you fitness gurus - the gym was awesome, they had plenty of new equipment, free weights, mats (all though these were very bulky and not easily managed), Bosus, etc...very well stocked including water and towels.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a room that is not near the elevators. It's ok, but if you are a light sleeper you will hear them whizzing up and down all day and night.

Emily T., Thank you very much for the wonderful comments about our staff and your stay. We have to agree with you about our gym, in fact you should take the opportunity to look at the Sheraton Fitness web page (sheratonfitness.com), and see how important fitness is to us.

I stayed at this Sheraton for a few days in November 2012 attending a conference. The hotel is in an excellent location, right across Canal Street from the heart of the French Quarter. It's directly on the street car line. It's right across the street from one of my favorite New Orleans restaurants, the Palace Café. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. A major bonus is their system for the elevators, which allows for them to run efficiently in a building with so many floors and so many people going in different directions. We never had to really wait for an elevator. Press the button and one is there pretty quickly. That is unusual for a hotel of this size. I stayed here for business, but would consider staying here in the future for a personal trip.

Excellent location directly on Canal Street, 2 mins from Bourbon Street, within a few minutes walk you find the Riverwalk, steam boat Natchez, Jackson Factory, St. Louis Cathedral, French Market etc. Streetcars run past the hotel.
Many restaurants and breakfast offers close by (hotel buffet breakfast is quite expensive), Starbucks located in lobby (but usually crowded!), internet corner in lobby where you can go on the internet for free (fee for in-room internet). Rooms have all the amenities you expect from a 4 star hotel. Large windows offer an unbeatable view on the streets and the skylines of New Orleans. Try to get a room on one of the top floors. I would stay there again - look for special rates.

We stayed for 7 nights (May 7 to 14) with our two kids 9 and 12. We booked a room with access to Sheraton Club Lounge because we wanted the convenience of the complimentary continental breakfast. What the club lounge gave us was an oasis for relaxation, friendly service from the staff, great advice on activities, excellent regional food, and appetizers at night which was enough for dinner. We were blown away by the club lounge. It made our trip to New Orleans so amazing. Highly recommend booking a room with access to the club lounge.

Club lounge is on 42nd floor and has a great view to the Mississippi River. We were in room 4213 which faces Canal street but is literally 10 steps away from the club lounge. So convenient. The lounge is open 24 hours a day with espresso machine, soda, and bottled water available. Out of the 7 nights, we had "dinner" at the club for 4 nights. The menu always included cheese, crackers, veggie platter, with complimentary coffee (espresso machine), tea, cola and bottled water. A few dishes changed each day: gumbo, oysters, chicken skewers, lamb chops, leg of lamb, shrimp cocktail, crab claws. Breakfasts included pastries, cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, grits, oatmeal, eggs, juices. Food was amazing and well worth the higher room rate ($20 per night) we paid.

The club staff members (especially Caroline) were very friendly to us and the kids. We talked about our planned activities and they suggested different things to see along the way. When we told Caroline that we were going to the Honey Island Swamp Tour in Slidell, she said that she grew up there and loved going to the Old Town Soda Shop. We took her advice and had a great time there.

Another staff member suggested we go to the WWII museum. Her kids go there for field trips and thought our kids would find it educational too. She also suggested going to John Besh’s restaurant American Sector in the museum for lunch. Again, great advice. Very educational and great food.

The lounge has two computers and hooked up to printers. I saw people printing off boarding passes and work material.

We found the hotel was an easy walk to the French Quarter sights, Audabon Aquarium and WWII Museum. Catching the St. Charles streetcar was just two blocks away. We rented a car for two days and picked up the car at the convention centre (15 minute walk). Valet parking is $42 (with tax included) which is very steep, but we did this as it was convenient.

Our room was basic with two doubles. Everything was clean and comfortable. We opted for the green package, so we only had cleaning after every 3rd night. This was fine for us. We received $5 vouch for each night that we did not our room cleaned. We were able to use this downstairs in the bar/restaurant.

We also used the pool on 8th floor 3 times. It was nice to be out of the air conditioning, but away from the busy streets. It’s not a fancy pool, but it was sufficient to cool down after a long day of sightseeing.

Room Tip: Book a room with access to Club Lounge

In March 2014 we took our first cruise out of New Orleans and since it had been years since I had been to the Big Easy decided to spend 2 Pre nights before the cruise. We actually reserved the hotel through the cruise line which was Norwegian. Since we were going in later March during Spring break we found the price from the cruise line to actually be very good. The hotel was great, loved the elevators. The location was great, just a short walk to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. The staff at the hotel was friendly and very accommodating. They even do this thing where you get credit back if you do not want want your room serviced between the two days so you get back a $5.00 credit each morning that can be used at any restaurant or the Starbucks in the lobby We hope to return in the near future and will definitely stay at the Sheraton again.

LAFFNVEGAS, we look forward to your next trip to the Big Easy. Did you know that if you make your reservation through our Starwood channel that you can opt-in to our Make A Green Choice program while making your reservation.
