This older hotel may have seen its prime time many, many years ago!! Today it is far from...Trip Advisor gives it 2-1/2 stars, I go a tad lower for 2 stars!
From run down surroundings to a rundown hotel in need of repairs: cracked floors, stained ceilings, busted door entries and too many critters. Strange Continental Breakfast set up in an outdoor hallway! The bathroom is so small that upon entry you have to step to one side of toilet to close door. Musty odor in room...wonder what the inside of the walls look like...
Receptionist had no idea what to do with my credit card & claimed Chase would not accept. I called Chase & they assured me no card problem, but that the hotel erred in their entries & Chase rejected. Finally, an hour later Prytania said "Its ok now" ( they did give us the room card)!!!
The next morning we attempted to cancel the 2nd night stay. Our request was rejected on the basis of "we have a 48hrs. cancellation notice"! So, what is their notice for 2nd night booking having been booked within 24 hrs. before?? Of course, they have claimed the 48hrs. timeline is applicable, even thought I had less than 25hrs.. Well, Expedia does not agree: They told me it is common practice that a booking of within less than cancellation policy timeline, is subject to "no cancellation restriction". So, Expedia awarded us a $50 bonus out of clear courtesy!! Mrs. Schulman, this could be your reaction, but no...
The location and price are decent...My review is a lot kinder than it could be, but only because I am an objective person with facts.
Would I want to stay here again: NO WAY! Should you? Not my call, but don't claim I did not tell you here..
Let's see what owner's excuses are or what her blame is!

I am a professional business, woman. Women in charge is a problem for him. He made that clear in our lobby. I will not stoop to his level. Just know, The old adage "thou protest too loudly" rings a bell. He is mad because he does not agree or like our policy on early departure. End of story.

The Prytania Park Hotel was in a decent location with easy access to the street car. The hotel is older and in need of repairs. Above all, it was not very clean. Attention needs to be made to the housekeeping staff. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They were knowledgable about the area. The breakfast was very minimal. The beds were memory foam and were amazing. All and all enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is in a quiet little area surrounded by lots of places to eat (try Slice, the pizza was pretty good) and the streetcar is a quick walk. The room was kind of nifty as it has a spiral staircase leading to the loft with a second bed. However, they were a bit difficult to maneuver, especially in the dark. Those are the pros. It's an older hotel, which is kind of cool, but at the same time it's run down. The room wasn't that clean. Even after the maid service. The breakfast was just Eggo waffles, packaged oatmeal, English muffins etc nothing fancy. The coffee was pretty good though. Overall if you're just using it to rest your head, it will do. If you're planning on spending lots of time there, or looking for a fancier hotel, I'd look elsewhere.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your time in writing a review. I appreciate the feedback. I do apologize for your room not being as cleaned as it could be. I am certainly going to look into this, and see about retraining the housekeeper that serviced your stay.

As a budget friendly hotel, that offers a complimentary continental fare for breakfast, we do our best to make our guest feel as if they were at home. Seeing we are a courtyard style, limited service hotel, meaning, no restaurant on site, we decided to expand upon the industry standard continental breakfast of coffee/juice and a basket of breakfast pastries, to offer quiet a bit more. It is not marketed as a fancy breakfast, but as an Expanded Continental breakfast. It was designed as a "get you going" fare. As New Orleans is a foodie metropolis, we have found that most of our guests actually prefer going to one of many area restaurants for breakfast. However, Just as a reminder of all we do offer, besides the standard fare, we include Yoplait yogurts, Dole fruit cups, 2 varieties of cold cereal, oatmeal and grits and yes, Eggo waffles. True, some of this is self contained packages, but over the y40 years we have been here, we have determined when your wanting to eat in your room at your leisure while you get dressed, having packaged microwavable items, or having items you can drop in a briefcase/handbag for later in your day, is a nice touch.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay in New Orleans, and hope to see you back one day. Fondly, Dori H Schulman, GM

This hotel was quite different and quirky. Our son loved the loft! Breakfast was basic, but at least it was free! Wifi was very patchy. Location was great, being very close to the streetcar into downtown.

Hotel was clean air conditioner worked well in our room. I took loft bed up a spiral medal staircase. Bathroom was way to tiny. Could barely open bathroom door because of toilet and tub. Reminder No elevator here. Breakfast not fancy at all. .
