Stayed here in early Sept 2012, post Hurricane Isaac.
I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans and stayed at a number of hotels. Was looking for something inexpensive and cheerful for a few nights by myself. I originally had a booking at another hotel, but it had sustained damage from Hurricane Isaac, so I quickly had to find a back up.
My room had lots of character, with a chandelier and a very "Anne Rice/Interview with the Vampire" feel. They called it a suite, but the adjoining room was only a pullout couch and TV, no air, just a fan, so I just closed the door. Everything was relatively neat and clean. But the bed gave me a backache and the room was on the second floor with a long walk up. It was affordable, fairly quiet and location was good (away from Bourbon Street), so you more or less got your money's worth. And the pool was a saving grace, because it was so hot and humid out. Not sure I'd go back, but it's an ok place to stay.
