Stayed here in early Sept 2012, post Hurricane Isaac.
I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans and stayed at a number of hotels. Was looking for something inexpensive and cheerful for a few nights by myself. I originally had a booking at another hotel, but it had sustained damage from Hurricane Isaac, so I quickly had to find a back up.
My room had lots of character, with a chandelier and a very "Anne Rice/Interview with the Vampire" feel. They called it a suite, but the adjoining room was only a pullout couch and TV, no air, just a fan, so I just closed the door. Everything was relatively neat and clean. But the bed gave me a backache and the room was on the second floor with a long walk up. It was affordable, fairly quiet and location was good (away from Bourbon Street), so you more or less got your money's worth. And the pool was a saving grace, because it was so hot and humid out. Not sure I'd go back, but it's an ok place to stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time in New Orleans and at The Provincial. Great location in the French Quarter. Good amenities. Clean and very comfortable. Always looked forward to coming back after a day of sightseeing. The gorgeous pool was also a hit!!

We stayed here in Early February 2012. The room we stayed in was small and on the first floor with windows facing the street. It did not bother us that the room was small as we loved the character of the old building. The price was also right. Excellent value for the money. We arrived and parked the car leaving it there until we were ready to leave. We dined at the Italian restaurant around the corner 'Irene's' Great meal and pleasant atmosphere. Loved staying in the French Quarter in a historical building. We walked and walked and also took the street cars on Charles and the Riverfront. We were there a couple of weeks before Marti Gras because we wanted to enjoy the area before all the crowds arrived.

We stayed at the Hotel Provincal in August, arriving the day before Hurricane Isaac. We were really pleased with the lovely twin double bedroom on the ground floor next to the swimming pool. Unfortunately because of the hurricane, we never got to use the pool. Lots of bars/shops and restaurants all closed up for three days but the hotel stayed open. For two days, the owners provided us with breakfast, lunch and dinner at no extra cost because they knew we couldn't go any where to eat. The food was great and the staff really made it feel safe for us. They had been through Hurricane Katrina and they were able to reassure us that Isaac wasn't as bad and we would be safe. They made us feel very welcome and cared for and we'd like to thank the owners for the extra care they took of us. During the hurricane, we made new friends with the other guests and we enjoyed sharing our drinks in the hotel foyer. Hotel Provincial is a great hotel, lovely courtyard and pool and the buffet breakfast was enjoyable, great tasting coffee too!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms next to the swimming pool are great and there's free wifi in reception area.

My boyfriend and I like different things in a hotel: He's more brand oriented and I like charm. When planning to head south, I really wanted quirky and cool - and ghosts if possible. I was thrilled when he agreed! After lots of research, we settled on the Hotel Provincial, primarily because of the location (and it's Civil War history). What a great decision! Located nearer to the French Market (and an easy walk to Frenchman Street music scene), Hotel Provincial is the perfect launching pad to explore the Big Easy - you're close enough to walk to everything, but far enough from Bourbon Street to avoid the mess. The room isn't the newest or flashiest, but it is clean and comfortable. The pool area was clean and well-maintained and the pool itself was wonderful. The staff couldn't have been more helpful about what to include, what to skip and best of all - where to eat! Speaking of food, the continental breakfast offered the perfect array of choices to start your day. One negative note, the parking is NOT cheap. Fortunately, we didn't rent a car for our few day sojourn, so we saved there. As for my sweetie? He STILL talks about what a great choice the Hotel Provincial was. Will definitely be back and have already encouraged others to stay there.

Room Tip: They say the ghosts are in building four and while we wanted the "visitors" we had read ab...

I loved the historical value and authentic feel of the hotel. It's in a great location, walking distance to everything. There are only two minor complaints which prevented me from giving the hotel a five rating. First, the valet parking, which isn't optional, gets pricey. Second, the rooms could use coffee makers and perhaps refrigerators. However, these are minor details and would not prevent me from staying there again.

The staff of the Hotel Provincial couldn't have been nicer, they were so very accommodating at a time that was stressful for our family and then Hurrican Isaac arrived! Since my daughter and myself were there for 10 days and every time we realized we needed to extend our stay they met our needs and always with a smile! It is a little bit of New Orleans and withing the French Quarter - close to so much and easy stop for cabs! Thank you everyone for lessening our already stressful visit when we needed a place that was comfortable and friendly.
The pool is sweet, the fountain area comfortable and quaint. We will return again!

Room Tip: A room that offers the least amount of outside noise - outside porches
