Olivier House was a great choice for our family trip to NOLA. Close to the craziness of Bourbon street and within walking distance for everything in the French Quarter, but quiet and comfortable in the room. Rates vary depending on the demand, but our booking for the 4th of July holiday week was lower priced than chain hotels for a two-queen suite and Olivier House has much more character (especially the elevator). Our teenager and twenty-something daughters loved that we got to check out 2 rooms before picking which one we wanted at check-in. Free coffee and bottled water with cookies/fruit available 24/7. No on-site dining options but why would you want to eat in the hotel when you can explore a new restaurant every meal in the French Quarter? Many good options are within a short 5min walk. Most importantly, the AC in our room kept up with the heat and humidity of NOLA in July.

We stayed as a family with our adult son/daughter and their spouses and toddler. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel so welcome. They showed us all available rooms and gave us the choice as to which rooms we wanted.......and that was a very hard choice as they were all so lovely! My husband and I had the one past the swimming pool with a big well equipped kitchen, lounnge, dining area and 2 bedrooms upstairs which has a huge, awesome balcony out onto the street. Great place where we could all sit later on at night and have drinks bought from Bourbon St. just round the corner. It feels like right in the hubof it in the sense that you can sit and listen to distant jazz sounds, people watch and admire the beautiful old New Orleans houses around you........great ambience!!! And yet , so peaceful and quiet at night. Very comfortable beds with good quality linen. Lovely bathrooms with lots of towels, soaps, toilet rolls provided. Also we had a washing machine and tumbledrier which was really handy. They have a coffee/tea, hot chocolate and proper old fashioned lemonade with lovely biscuits available round the clock in the lounge. Also had free little packets of rain ponchos for guests along with umbrellas, just nice little touches of caring management. Loved their courtyard garden with a tropical feel to it with couple of little tables and chairs. Didn't have time to use the pool but looked very inviting. Overall, can't think of a nicer, more authentic place to stay and spend time in New Orleans, French Quarter, which we absolutely loved, such an amazing place to visit. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.........we really cannot recommend this place enough! And the staff really deserve recommendation for their outstanding hospitality, which is not only friendly, but also professional and relaxed at the same time!

We stayed in a 1 bedroom King suite for 5 nights. The room was awesome with a balcony overlooking the pool. The people working there are very knowledgeable about the history of the building. It is close to everything in the French Quarter. We would stay here again without hesitation

Many changes have taken place since my first stay at this hotel 25 years ago. The one thing that has not changed is the feeling of coming home. When I walk through the front door, it smells like history with a pinch of cloves and something exotic from the tropics. After all this time, I still prefer this place.

There is an incredible staff here that will make you feel at home and help meet your needs. My best advice is to think about your needs prior to making reservations. There are plenty of quiet rooms to be found in a neighborhood not known for it's silence. In the course of my visits, it was necessary to change rooms a couple of times. The staff has been gracious without fail. It is important to know as you plan that customer service here is top notch. They want your stay to be comfortable and pleasant.

Bedding is delicious and soft. Pillows are Tempur-Pedic. Extra blankets and pillows are available. House-keeping consists of kind-hearted humans who do their best. If there is ever an over-sight, please let someone know. They will come through for you.

This glorious home was built in 1839. As an antique broker, I get excited all things that survive the wear and tear of time. You will notice imperfections. It might help to know that this place has suffered destruction--from Union Occupation to floods and fires and hurricanes--and yet, the structure stands like a victor raising a single-finger salute. Although the original glory of the home was completely undone as the years went by, so much has been restored to the original fashion that suited her so well. She is 178 years old. Remember that and be awed. Any place worthy of such stories should have scars.

As you walk the old streets of the Quarter, notice the resurrection ferns growing out of the brick mortar. There is so much beauty in the imperfection of this place. All of it.

If you love to shop chain stores for mass-produced products, faced and fronted and identical as clones, this is *not* the place for you. If you prefer to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts in a place filled with stories...you'll love Olivier House. So does a Pulitzer Prize winning novelist...and Francis Ford Coppola...and Allen Ginsberg...not to mention a ghost or two. Those of you who thrive on adventure will feel right at home.

Room tip: Let the staff know your needs.

Stayed for six nights in June 2017 and loved every minute of our stay. Had a two bedroom unit which was fantastic. This is not a new state of the art accommodation. The old style homestead conversion is great and contributes to the experience in this great location. Lots of fun and things happening. A very short walk to Bourbon Street and basically anywhere else in the french quarter.

Make sure you get to Frenchman Street for more authentic New Orleans jazz experience.

Beds were comfortable, wifi great - everything was enjoyable. The pool was nice to relax in after wandering the streets.

Would have been five star if there were an elevator to the second level, and lighting in the rooms was a little dim which made it hard to find things at times.

Also, the television in the main room didn't work but this was no big issue as your time is much better spent out on the streets enjoying yourself.

Highly recommend this to all. Would definitely stay here if lucky enough to ever return.
