Service at the hotel was nice, people were friendly and very responsive. Great convenient location. Well laid out for conference participation. Cons: room was incredibly stuffy and the heat/AC did not work well at all. The fan was so loud that when turning on, it sounded like someone was opening the door to my room. I had a room near the elevators (not the closest there were probably two closer) and I could here the dinging of the elevators and the beeps when people pushed the buttons - this also means I could certainly here all the traffic back and forth. Street noise was also pretty bad (I was on the 17th floor) and not even facing the street. Great that there was a fed ex center in the lobby but slow and expensive (although the people were nice). I agree with the other reviewer that the lobby was really really loud - all the time! Definitely not a peaceful respite from the French Quarter. I heard the JW Marriott across the street is a lot nicer. Overall, ok stay for business but not where I would chose to go personally. My disclaimer - I prefer small non-corporate hotels.

Room Tip: away from the elevators!! some sides of the hotel had really nice views (mine didn't)

We stayed here the week after Super Bowl.... Mardi Gras was starting up. 3 conventions were staying there so pretty crowded.

The people working the main lobby, concierge, etc. were very nice and eager to help. We had a great first impression with the friendliness of NO people.

Our room was on the 17th floor, facing the river - excellent except that it was too close to the elevator (not even the 1st room next to it, but the 2nd). We didn't notice the noise until we had settled in so didn't want to ask for a change - tried to think of it as "ocean noise" :) But it became very annoying and a couple of the nights, we had trouble sleeping with it. The temperature in the room was hard to control - never adjusted correctly. The daily cleaning wasn't great - after 4 days, had to ask for new bars of soap, the bathtub wasn't cleaned, and the floors weren't vacuumed at all... basically just beds made, garbage emptied and new towels.
We didn't care for the beds - the double mattress kept slipping off to one side and was extremely soft.

Its hard to get in/out during Mardi Gras parades so be prepared to go looking elsewhere for a taxi.

Perfect location - next to the French Quarter and business district.

Room Tip: Get as far away from elevators as possible - even 2 away was too close.

Dear bdaOh, thanks for your feedback. We love hosting first-time guests, because we believe our location really does offer access to the best of New Orelans. And you certainly picked a fantastic time to be in the city, with so much to see and do during Mardi Gras.
We would like to apologize for any discomfort the ambient elevator noise may have caused. Whenever possible, we're happy to relocate guests to a different room. I would also like to apologize for the cleanliness of your room during your stay. We take pride in our housekeeping services, so I can assure you a future stay will be far more satisfactory. If there's anything else we can do, feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,
Robert Bray

Best beds I have ever experienced!
Lobby bar was very nice and convenient as well. Good service overall - would stay there again. Pay attention at the elevators as the system is different from any other I have ever experienced.

We had a lovely stay at the Marriott, close to the French Quarter but not in it, loved the free shuttle to the major sights in town. We purposefully came before Mardi Gras. The hotel lobby is tremendous and open with a bar and huge projection TV where we watched the football game. Large airy and intimate all at the same time. Charming staff and the waiters often offered a free cup of delicious coffee. Mr. Love is the doorman and has been there for over 30 years! A nice touch was chilled water with crushed fruit, free newspapers, free shuttle, coffee in the room. The beds at all the Marriotts are THE BEST, we sleep like babies. Just down the street one of the best meals we had on vacation at SOBU. Make sure to have a drink at the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone and get a look at the slickest bartenders in the world.

Room Tip: once we got there the front desk kindly offered an upgrade for small change, we declined but if that...

After our "family trip of a lifetime" fell apart the day before we were scheduled to leave for Ireland, my husband, sixteen-year-old son, and I switched gears and headed to New Orleans for an alternate trip. A visit to a travel agent found us a room at the New Orleans Marriott. The only double room available was one for $309 with a river view. We landed at MSY on Tuesday a.m. and headed for the hotel around 10 a.m. Greeted with open arms by Angela at the Marriott's front desk, she informed us that the only double rooms they currently had available were near an elevator. Having read on TripAdvisor to stay away from rooms near an elevator due to the noise, I mentioned this to my husband. Angela immediately offered to upgrade us to a suite and asked us to post a good review if it was merited. She brought out an I-Pad to show us what the room would look like, and advised we'd need to bring in a roll away bed for our son. The photos on the I-Pad looked delightful, so we graciously accepted the upgrade (which came with free access to the Concierge Lounge). Angela graciously through in free WiFi as well. We headed up to the twelfth floor (this hotel is BIG, I believe there are 40 floors in two towers) and were blown away when we opened the door to our suite. The room was huge, with a large dining room table, kitchen area, and living area. Our bed was a murphy bed that came down from the wall. Our son's bed, the roll away, arrived immediately and was VERY comfortable (as was our bed). The bathroom was nicely done (shower was wonderful!) and we had a full arrange of Bath & Body Works toiletries. The room, on the corner of the building facing the Mississippi River, had a full wall and a half of windows overlooking the river. We very much enjoyed keeping "tabs" on all the boats going by--and were treated to music from the Natchez steam boat on a regular basis. While the room was very, very nice, I was surprised that its decorating scheme was somewhat early 1970s Brady Bunch--lots of green and orange. We had a small refrigerator in the room, but when I went to place the pint of ice cream I had purchased for $8 (!) in the lobby, the freezer area was too full of ice to use--my ice creamed turned to mush. The three of us very much enjoyed how "the other half lives" in a posh hotel suite. The hotel's elevators are very interesting--computerized, you punch in the floor you need and are assigned to a specific elevator. Each worker we met at the Marriott was friendly and helpful. The Concierge Lounge was a huge bonus--offering us unlimited sodas/water, a full breakfast each morning, afternoon snacks, and dessert! The gals who worked the Concierge Lounge were friendly and efficient. It also had computers available for use. The Marriott appeared to be very full due to a large amount of conferences occurring in the city, but the service didn't suffer at all. The huge bar in the lobby was often crowded and noisy in the afternoon--and a great place to sit and people watch after a day of touring. Our son ordered room service twice (chicken Caesar salad and club sandwich) and was very pleased with both meals. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, as well as a high end restaurant that did not appear to be busy any time we walked by--but in NOLA, it's all about the food and there are far too many great places to eat! The New Orleans Marriott is located on Canal Street, just on the edge of the French Quarter. Each day, we headed out to explore the streets of the French Quarter by foot and were never disappointed! I would highly recommend a room at the New Orleans Marriott, and hope you are as lucky as we were to stumble upon Angela!

Room Tip: It was very nice to have a room that overlooked the Mississippi River. We were able to watch barges...

The shuttel from the airport was horrendous! Then the driver dumped us off nearly a block from the front doors of the hotel. Once we stepped inside their was the worst cacophony you could imagine. People everywhere, children screaming and dancing all over the place and this was all happening at midnight after a long flight! The reception area was a disaster! No-one was able to help, the place was in chaos. Eventually a front counter person was able to be found to then help us find a bell boy to assist with the 6 bags we were trying to drag up the stairs to the foyer. The room they gave us was next to the elevator shaft - so noisy all night it was a completely sleepless deal. The bathroom was pokey and the room basic. Not on my list of repeats!

Room Tip: Too many conventions held here - dont go if you are not part of one!

Dear JaneyWard1960, after a long flight, we know that a swift, seamless check-in makes all the difference. It is with great regret that we learn of your "chaotic" arrival at the hotel. We're committed to providing great service, and it sounds like we didn't deliver during your stay. I'd like to personally apologize for what sounds like an extremely atypical visit to the New Orleans Marriott. I hope you'll consider staying with us again, as I'm confident you'll see a completely different side to our hotel. If there's anything we can do at this point, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Kori Johnson

Stayed for mardi gras 2013, Bourbon street few blocks away the parade passes rigth in front of the hotel. Great staff, very clean but small bathrooms, cool elevator system. They charge for wi-fi in the rooms (free at the lobby).

Room Tip: Choose river side tower for better view
