“Nice Hotel in a Great Location”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

I stayed at the Marriott on Canal after a rather terrifying stay at the Holiday Inn in the Quarter. This hotel is so much better - thank God. The facility is very nice - warm receptive lobby with a great staff on hard. Concierge level serves better food than some restaurants I have eated at in lesser locations! This is now "home base" in NOLA for me...

Nice hotel, nice rooms, great atmosphere in the lobby. We were staying at the < Marriott during the BCS Championship weekend. While the place was over-run all weekend long, everyone did a good job. Only complaint would be the air conditioning never got cold enough - not really dinging them for that since we didn't request maintenance.

Room Tip: Rooms above the 6th floor have a view of the pool area which is nice.

We recently stayed at the Mariott and agree it has a perfect location. While the room is just decent and the hotel is huge, the service stood out. Front desk staff, bell captain and concierge were all excellent and added to stay.

My family stayed here Christmas night before we left on a cruise the next day. It is in a perfect location. We are able to walk to the French Quarter, Lafayette Square and Bourbon Street. We loved the elevators where you punched in the floor you wanted in the lobby. It told you which elevator would pick you up, and then it took you right up with no stops. The hotel was modern, clean and very comfortable, just what I expect from Mariott. We ate in the lobby bar which was packed. It took a long time, but the food was great!

I stayed here over the New Year's Weekend and it was perfect. As someone previously mention, we shared the hotel with the Michigan football team and band which at times made the lobby and elevators a bit tight but that was a small price to pay for the great location. Everything in the French Quarter is in walking distance!!! Which is a plus after a night on Bourbon Street. An added bonus, we had an early flight in on Friday and they let us check in at 10am.

Located at the edge of French Quater there are better locations that are more central to a stay in the FQ. Appears that it was recently rennovated, room was average but clean and had a great view of the Mississippi River. Lobby was very open and a little crowded. Check in was one of the worse that I have witnessed 5 people behind the counter looking busy and 1 assisting 3 guest arguing about their bill.. BTW parking was an additonal $33 per day so keep that in mind when comparing rates with other FQ Hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor facing the Mississippi River.

Stayed here over NYE's with the Sugar Bowl teams in town, and shared the hotel with Michigan. Wouldn't do that again if I had any advance knowledge of both the team and band staying here. The lobby was frequently over-crowded with luggage stacked everywhere and people milling around waiting for the band to decide where the members should move, en masse. This caused an unbelievable wait for the elevators.....actually waited 4 minutes or more several times for the 'appointed elevator' to arrive.

Check out was almost as much of a nightmare.....luckily a senior customer service representative (in the red blazers) came and began to organize the mess in the lobby. She ended up just accepting the keys and I guess we are (by now) checked out.... a week later??

The property is fine with a great location. The biggest issue was probably the Michigan crowd more than 500 college students there for the game.
