We found a dirty toilet paper upon using the bathroom. The walls are too thin that you can hear the people in the hallway. There was false alarm at 3 am. The hotel did not even compensate for that disturbance. Staff is helpful, some are snooty. Housekeeping was great. The bellman are very helpful. The pool view is nice and romantic. Good distance to to Bourbon street and other tourist sites.
I would like to try another 4 star hotel in New Orleans if ever.

We just returned from our second stay that the Le Pavillon, and will definitely return again. The hotel is very impressive with lots of historical architecture and decor. The rooms are very comfortable and have high ceilings, marble bathrooms, and free high speed internet access. The location is convenient to most places in town. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the restraunt was wonderful - try the bananas foster waffles! The pb&j sandwiches in the evenings were also a welcome homecoming. My only caution is to be very careful with the mini-bar. It is computerized, and incorrectly charged us for items that moved when we opened the door. However, the staff handled it very well and gladly removed the charges. We have stayed in many hotels in New Orleans over the years, and Le Pavillon is our favorite so far.

Overall, I would have to say that our stay at Le Pavillon was rather disappointing. For a hotel of its standards, I was hoping for a grand and spectacular experience, but a few instances made it less than ordinary.

Upon our arrival, there was no doorman to greet us, open the door and assist with our luggage. We were greeted in a tepid manner by the front desk. We were made to wear annoying, lime green bracelets that we had to keep on for four days (it reminded me of some wild college spring break when bracelets are handed out at bars for unlimited drinks). Our room was rather small; the space provided did not create the feeling of luxury that the hotel boasted. Our toiletries were crammed onto the sink. We wanted to have a small meal at the Gallery Lounge, and the waiter was very delayed in his service. We were seated, and we waited to place our order while the waiter ran around serving others. He completely forgot about us, especially when a busload of tourists arrived to order drinks at the bar. It was obvious that he was not going to get around to taking our orders anytime soon, so we left our table completely disturbed by the experience, and we could not help but let it negatively affect our perception of the hotel--where was the hospitality that Le Pavillon boasted of?????? AND, he had the nerve to look annoyed when he finally noticed us leaving our table. Also, I was inquiring about the times when luncheon was being served at the front desk, and the woman was very brusque about her response, and once again I felt completely put off by the lack of hospitality. Housekeeping was not very thorough in cleaning the rooms--I found an apple core underneath the bed that housekeeping had failed to clean up!

Two factors do stand out with regards to a more positive experience at this hotel--the late night snack hour and the turn down service. The chef was very open and friendly, and the late night snacks a delight. The nightly turn down service was very charming and gave me the feel of luxury. However, with the aforementioned negative events, I will not be returning to this hotel for another stay.

Just returned from spending Mardi Gras at this hotel. Rate for this special event was a bargain at $219/night (booked in October.) Beautiful historic hotel (reminded me of the Plaza in New York.) Good service, nice rooms (we were upgraded to a king room.) Bathroom was black marble and gold fixtures. The only draw back to this hotel is the location - which was a mixed blessing. Far enough away from the craziness of the French Quarter to ensure a peaceful refuge, but too far from anything convenient. The city needs to develop the area around the hotel. We ended up eating twice in the hotel (which I usually avoid because of the increased cost) because we were just to tired to go elsewhere.

Stayed at Le Pavillon in October 2004. Building is breathtaking and all staff were more than helpful. Had a room on the nineth floor which was well appointed. Pool and deck area on roof was beautiful. Walking distance to Superdome and Bourbon Street. If you are going to have breakfast downstairs in the ballroom allow yourself plenty of time to savour the surroundings and the great buffet breakfast. Great pub nearby in Baronne Street, Cajun Mike's, great place for a few drinks and a chat with the locals (and the friendlist barman/manager in New Orleans). Would definately stay again and hope to get back there soon.
