“loved it”
Reviewed November 7, 2011

My friend and I stayed for five nights and loved the courtyard. The staff was a delight, friendly and very helpful. This is just what we wanted, something that was New Orleans style.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor and could more enjoy the courtyard.

Nice character hotel close to all the French Quarter. Nice hardwood floors. Some would call the hotel "charming". I was there with a group and all rooms are quite different. Some rooms have ceiling fans and some do not. Our bathroom was very small with a continous running toilet. Shower grout needed a good scrubbing. Bathroom mirror was not in the frame properly oh... And the floor had a definite slope! One person in our group asked for their room to be made up for 3 days! We did not experience that. Breakfast included was adequate for the price paid.

Glad we stayed there! But there is a handful of things I would caution you about if your planning to stay. While cute and rustic, its on the very edge of the French Quarter. Which you are safe there and it feels safe, but when you stay out late and are walking back you just wanna make sure you take a direct rout and not wonder too much cause you could easily end up in a scary part of town! Secondly its not your typical hotel room, we were in the bottom corner and the brick flooring fallowed from pool side right into our room. And there was no outside light shining in during the days. Nothing bad but if you want cozy it's not exactly, at least downstairs. Everyone was very friendly! And I loved that we could take our dog and he was perfectly welcome, although walking around with him was hard with so many people and shops to go in. Everything was old feeling but clean as far as i could tell and they came and cleaned durning the day. One thing i didn't like was no pillow cases, which i'm sure they wash and bleach the pillows, but you might want to bring one. And if your squeamish about roaches be prepared. I think thats all I can think of, I would stay there again!

Room Tip: If you plan on being hung over down stairs is great! If you wanna strictly be a tourist than i would...

This was my first time in New Orleans and wanted to be near the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. My mother, daughter and fiance were also in tow. Let me just say, i am not a pretentious person who has to have perfection, but i at least need clean. The room was small and cramped and was trying to keep the charm of New Orleans. On the first night, my mother was awakened to the sound of loud banging from the people upstairs. Ok, something she got over. The television was small and not in the room with the beds. Ok, something i got over. The "continental" breakfast was trite and really not worth it. Ok, something we all got over. But when the housekeeper came to clean the room and walked in with only a bottle of Tilex and a questionable rag, we couldn"t get over that. No mopping, no sweeping, no bed-making and we had to take out our own trash. My mother ended up going to the CVS pharmacy to get cleaning supplies. Although the room was cheap, I would rather have paid for great, CLEAN service as opposed to what we got. If you have to clean and take out your own trash, you REALLY should get a discount. Oh....and the secured parking; a grassy lot with cameras that inept people at the front desk "watch". How that's possible when you can't even see all the vehicles parked there on their cameras. Oh.....that was an extra $25 a night. That's what happens i guess when you only get external views on a site and no views of the room.

My wife always wants to avoid chain hotels because, as she says in her Spanish accent, "I want to stay somewhere that captures the flavor of the city." We got that here at the NO Courtyard Hotel.

Let's start with breakfast. I was expecting Tang and cereal boxes. Not here! Roy, the manager, wouldn't stand for that kind of thing. Instead you get fluffy waffles, fresh breads and high quality coffee. The rest of the Continental breakfast was of a superior quality to what you will find most anywhere else.

The pool is elegant and much larger than pictures on the web site lead you to believe. The staff is warm and friendly. The rooms have high ceilings with ceiling fans and face the pool area, creating a sunny room.

Location is at the top of the French Quarter, just a 10 min walk to the main nightlife areas.

When we come back to NOLA we'll plan on staying here again.

we had a very nice stay at the courtyeard. the room was clean: the service absolutely great...there was a charge a $25.00 charge for protected parking and it was worth every dime. For those who want to park there is another lot adjacent to the hotel--not covered, and i don't know if there is a charge...Of course always a minor complaint- there is is a charge of $25.00 per pet ; i have 2 small shelties, so the charge was $50.00 for the 2 nights. Justa little high, but I definitely will stay there again. In fact I made reservations for September before I left. Louis and (i wish i had gotten his name) the other guy was amazing, so willing to help... Bottom line, if you have the chance to enjoy New Orleans make the Courtyard your home away from home. Oh dear. We chose this hotel on the basis of its location on the edge of the French Quarter and within walking distance of the Bourbon Street music scene. Thought we would avoid the late-night street noise we'd expect if we stayed a bit closer to the action. How VERY wrong. First night we were woken at around 4am by a resident on the floor above stomping around the room with no apparent desire to sleep. Moved rooms for a few hours kip. Subsequent nights were little better. The Receptionist told us that most residents arrived back drunk and just passed out. If only. Our room wasn't cleaned on one day. Breakfasts are served in a very nice if crowded room - the usual carb-rich waffles, muffins & toast on a do-it-yourself basis. No complaints there except to ask what the USA are going to do for land-fill sites with all the disposable plate and cup detritus produced by their hotels. As a previous reviewer has said, the bathrooms are dire - our bath was badly chipped, the shower hose was worn and the fixing was loose. The washbasin was coming away from the wall, as was the cistern. The tiles, such as they were, had seen better days and the lock on the door didn't work. Provision of just a small bar of soap and mouthwash really indicated the sort of guest this hotel expects. No way would I stay here again. There are plenty of alternatives, given that it wasn't particularly cheap.
